Theme song: "Doin' Time" Lana Del Rey Previously
on One Day at a Time - After the truth about Max and Abby's plot to split
Andrew and Paige was revealed, Chris suggested to Andrew that he reach out to
Paige to see where things stand with the former lovers. Leah, meanwhile, told
Paige that she will get over the heartbreak - Jeff sued Meggan for full custody
of Logan - Cory and Natasha remained estranged in their marriage - Victoria
and Shane made love again - Kim and Greg had sex on New Year's Eve - Melissa
vowed to keep Nicholas and Andy apart - Chris & Trenyce gave Cheresa space
over the Christmas holidays The Park A crisp winter chill
is in the air and since it is still mid-January, it doesn't feel like there will
be any reprieve in the weather in the near future. Despite the cool air, Andrew
slowly walks through the park with a toque on his head to keep himself warm. He
has two hot chocolates in his hands as he moves swiftly towards one of the benches
in the park, where he can see Paige waiting for him. After he spoke to Chris about
Max and Abby working together to break up him and Paige, Andrew reached out to
Paige as Chris suggested that he reach out to his ex-girlfriend to discuss what
happened. At first Andrew was skeptical, but he soon realized that any future
that he and Paige might have had was ripped away from them, thanks for Abby and
Max's scheming. "Hey, I brought you a hot chocolate," Andrew
tells Paige as he reaches the bench and passes her the heated beverage. "And,
thanks for meeting me. I know that it's not exactly warm out here."
"Thanks for the hot chocolate," Paige replies to him as he sits next
to her. "Honestly, if I hadn't heard from you, I was going to reach out.
I mean, I wanted to see how you've been doing since this whole plan of Abby and
Max's game to light." Andrew uneasily chuckles back to her. "How
am I doing? I feel like my mind has been racing a million miles per minute,"
he admits to her. "I have so many questions and I don't think I'll ever get
the answers." "I get that," Paige nods back to him. "Max
came up to me the other day and tried to plead his case but honestly I couldn't
even stomach the sight of him. I told him I never wanted to see him again."
"You know what's funny?" Andrew looks over at her. "I told
Abby the same thing. The only problem with not speaking to them is that we likely
will never get any answers." "I think I have all the answers
that I need," she admits to him. "They lied and worked together to break
us up. God, it all makes sense now, doesn't it?" "Yea, I guess
so. I also know that a lot has happened since we ended things."
"I'm so sorry Andrew," Paige tells him as she grabs his hand. "If
I had just talked to you about seeing you and Abby kiss, maybe this could have
been avoided." "You don't have to apologize," he replies
to her. "Abby and Max did this, not you." Paige feels her eyes
swell with water. "I guess I couldn't talk to you because of how hurt I was.
You were the first guy I was ever with. To think that you were also seeing Abby
at that time, it devastated me." "And now you know that I wasn't
cheating on you," Andrew looks into her eyes. "Does that change anything
for you?" "What are you asking me?" Andrew leans
in and softly kisses her on the lips. They part ways for a moment and look into
each other's eyes before their lips meet again. The Sugarbowl
Meggan opens the door to the coffeehouse and scurries inside as she is looking
for a strong coffee to help her get through her morning. She is about to meet
with her lawyer to go over strategies for the pending custody case that was instigated
by Jeff. While Meggan orders her drink, she can't help but wonder what it would
take for Jeff to drop the charges. The last thing that she wants to do is head
to court to fight over her son; the thought of losing Logan scares her to her
very core. As she puts a lid on her coffee, she turns her head and notices
Jeff sitting at the window bar with a coffee of his own. She takes a deep breath
and wonders what he is thinking about; does he have a lawyer? If so, is the lawyer
telling him that he has a good chance at getting custody? Before she can stop
herself, Meggan finds herself walks over to Jeff. "We need to talk,"
she says as she sits next to Jeff, who puts his phone down and looks over at Meggan.
"And before you tell me to go away, I'm not going anywhere; not until we
get some things straight." "By all means Meggan, I'm not busy
or anything. Say what you have to say so I can carry on with my day," Jeff
sneers back at her. He doesn't want to get into another fight with her but he
refuses to back down on the custody case. In his mind, he has lost enough time
with Logan as it is. "See, this is half of the problem: this attitude
that you have with me. I know what I did was wrong, but Jeff, come on, we can
work though this together. There has never been a problem we haven't been able
to solve together, right?" "How in the hell do you expect me
to a solve a problem that is missing over a year of my son's life because you
lied to me about it?" Jeff asks her back. "There's absolutely nothing
you can say or do that can give me that time back, Meggan. So yea, if I'm pissed
off it's because you robbed me of so much time with Logan." "I
know and I get that," Meggan tries to calm him down. "But Jeff, please,
let's work this out together? I will let you see Logan whenever you want
I
just don't want to go to court over this." "Then you should
have thought about that before you lied to me for over a year," he spits
back to her. "No Meg, you and Leah, you won't keep me from my son any longer.
I'll see you in court, and there's not a damn thing you can do to change my mind
about that." The Tower's; The Penthouse; Cory's Home
"Okay, okay, I'm coming, you don't have to break the door down,"
Cory rushes to the front door as he only wears a pair of grey sweat pants. He
had been having a lazy morning until he heard someone knocking non-stop on his
front door. He opens the door and is startled to see Natasha standing on the other
side. She immediately eyes him up and down admiring the toned chest of her estranged
husband. "Nat, what are you doing here?" "I haven't heard
from you since Christmas Day so I thought I'd come see you," she purses her
lips together as she moves into the penthouse and Cory closes the door behind
her. "Sophie has been asking when she will see her father again."
"I'll make time to see my daughter," Cory moves into the living
room behind her. "You could have called or texted. This discussion really
didn't need you to come all the way into town." Natasha turns back
to face him. "I missed you too, okay?" she admits to him. "Is it
so wrong that I wanted to see my husband?" Cory uneasily chuckles
back to her. "I'm surprised you still consider me your husband after everything
that has happened." "Of course I do," Natasha quickly
tells him. "Cory, I know we have been at odds for a while now but this marriage
means more to me than anything else. You have to believe me. I want our marriage
to work. Don't you?" Cory shrugs his shoulders back to her. "I
don't know anymore Nat. I don't think you realize how much changed for me when
you hit me that day. Everything changed for me." Natasha bites her
lower lip as she feels her eyes swell with water. "I've apologized so many
times to you about that. It will never happen again." "I'm
trying to believe you when you say that but the truth is, I don't trust you."
"So if you don't trust me and you can't get over me slapping you, where
does that leave us? Do we have a marriage anymore?" "Honestly?"
Cory looks back at her. "I don't think we do." ***
On the 8th floor of the condo tower, Shane and Victoria lay in the king bed
in Victoria's bedroom, fresh from another round of hot, passionate sex. After
they first made love on New Year's Eve, neither one knew what would come next
from their relationship. A few days earlier, they were having dinner and realized
they both wanted more sex and so it has become a regular occurrence.
"I am starting to get used to this," Victoria lays her head on his muscular,
sweaty, chest. "And, that's not a bad thing." Shane chuckles
back to her. "You're so beautiful Vic, I don't think I will ever want to
not be with you." Victoria looks up into his eyes. "Do you
mean that?" "Of course I do," he replies to her. "Any
man would be lucky to be in this position that I am in." "You're
sweet for saying so," Victoria tells him. "And for the record, I'm pretty
lucky too." Shane grins and leans down and kisses her again. "Why
don't we show each other how lucky we both are?" "You have
so much energy!" she giggles as he starts to kiss her again and she rolls
over on to her back. The Pampa Grill "Darling, thank
you so much for meeting me today," Melissa smiles before she takes a sip
of her champagne cocktail as Nicholas sits across from his mother in the busy
restaurant. Nicholas looks over at her and wonders what type of bombshell
she is going to drop on him. He knows that she hasn't been very supportive of
his relationship with Andy and the last thing he wants is to have another disagreement
with her about it. He just assumed that this is what the meeting was about; it's
not like he and Melissa discuss much else these days. "It sounded
important so here I am," Nicholas replies to her. "I'm not sure what
this is about though?" "Do I need a reason to see my son?"
Melissa purses her lips together before she chuckles back to him. "I'm only
teasing you, sweetheart. The fact of the matter is, Philip and I, we have to leave
town. We have urgent matters that require our attention in Boston."
"You're leaving?" Nicholas asks back in surprise. "I certainly
wasn't expecting this when I got your call." "I like to keep
my children on their toes," she winks back to him. "I'd love for you
to come home with us though. You, Philip and I back together in Boston, doesn't
that sound wonderful?" "You know that I can't leave town,"
Nicholas waves his hand back to her. "I'm just starting my relationship with
Andy. He means too much to me to just walk away from." "I was
afraid you'd say that," she replies to him. "You know damn well how
I feel about your relationship with Andy Spinnes." "Mom, I'm
not going to get into this with you again," Nicholas warns her. "We
can agree to disagree, okay?" "If you're not going to leave
that man, can I at least offer you my mansion to stay at while I'm away? Certainly
it would be better than staying at the Twin Peaks Executive Hotel," Melissa
suggests to him. "You want me to stay at the mansion?" Nicholas
asks back in surprise. "You know that I'd invite Andy over, right?"
"Of course, let's just say that it's my peace offering."
The Twin Peaks Executive Hotel; Greg's Suite Kim collapses on
top of Greg in the bed in the suite that he is renting. They just finished making
love, again, since they took their relationship to that level on New Year's Eve.
At first, Kim was skeptical of moving into this place with Greg since she was
still trying to get over Bob's death, but she hadn't realized how much she had
missed being with a man. Greg is a skilled lover and he has been treating her
very right. "That was incredible," Kim gasps as she rolls over
to lay next to him. Greg chuckles back to her. "We do make a great
team, don't we?" "I didn't realize how much I needed this until
it actually happened," Kim admits to him. "For so long, I was so focused
on my grief of losing Bob and then fighting for what is rightfully mine, you know?"
"I get it," Greg nods back to her. "We both had a lot of pent
up frustrations that feel good to release." "I'm sorry,"
she immediately says back to him. "Here I am going on about myself when I
know what you went through with Cheresa and Brooke." "You don't
need to apologize," Greg looks back at her. "But yes, this family has
been through the ringer lately." "Do you know anything more
about Brooke? Will she actually stand trial?" "I am not sure,"
Greg admits to her. "But, I have to tell you Kim, as much as I've liked this,
it can't be any more than this casual sex for right now. My family doesn't need
any more complications right now. They have to be my top priority."
Kim uneasily nods back to him and forces a smile on her face. "Of course,"
she tells him. "We can keep this very casual." The Sugarbowl
"I can't believe how cold it is out there," Trenyce tells Chris
as they scurry into the coffeehouse desperate to escape the chilly winter air.
Chris rubs his hands together hoping to warm them as he looks to the back corner
of the coffeehouse and sees Cheresa sitting alone in the back booth. "Let's
grab coffees and head back to my place?" "Nah," Chris
replies to her as he draws her attention to Cheresa. "Let's get them to stay
and let's chat with our daughter?" Trenyce nods back to him with
an excitement in her eyes. They haven't seen Cheresa since before the Christmas
holiday's; Trenyce hopes that by giving Cheresa the space she needed over the
holidays that she is now ready to embrace the fact that she and Chris are her
biological parents. "Cheresa, hey," Chris announces to his
daughter as he and Trenyce slide into the other side of the booth across from
her. "How have you been?" "Yea, how was your Christmas?"
Cheresa uneasily looks back at her new found parents sort of taken aback
that they sat down without being asked. She knows that they are trying but she
doesn't know if she wants to have a conversation with them. "It was okay.
It was an adjustment period, I guess. Since coming out of the coma, there's been
so much change in my life." "We can appreciate that,"
Trenyce nods back to her. "I hope you know that it was really difficult to
stay away from you over Christmas. I wanted to be with you so much."
"Thank you for giving me space," Cheresa replies to her. "I
needed it. I think
I think I still need space." Chris and Trenyce
look at one another in surprise. "You're not ready to have a relationship
with us?" Chris asks his daughter back as he feels his heart sink into his
chest. He had hoped that by giving her space over the holidays she would be ready
to have a full relationship with him and Trenyce since they are her parents.
"I don't know," Cheresa admits to them. "I'm still wrapping
my head around everything; from Brooke buying me from the black market to you
two being my real parents
I don't know. I feel like I'm drowning without
a life line." Trenyce reaches over and grabs her hand. "We
are your life line, Cheresa. I am your mother, I won't let you drown in this.
Do you hear me?" "I hear you," Cheresa replies to her.
"But please, respect my decision. If I don't figure this out on my own, I
never will. I will never be okay with this if I can't get my head around it. I
just need time, okay?" The Park "Andrew,"
Paige whispers back to her ex-boyfriend as their lips part from their kiss. "I
"
"Was it wrong of me to do that?" Andrew asks her as he licks his
lips back to her. "No," she immediately tells him. "It
just felt
" "Different? Yea, for me too," Andrew
admits to her. "Maybe too much time has gone by?" "It
took me a long time to get over you," Paige replies to him. "And when
I finally did, I accepted you as a friend. I guess it's hard going backwards."
"I'm not upset by this at all," Andrew says back to her. "I'm
glad we tried? That's all we can do. We would have been left wondering if we hadn't.
To friends?" Paige pulls him into a hug. "I'll always be your
friend, Andrew. Always." "Ditto Paige, ditto."
