Scene One - The Calimo Mansion

Bob looks out the door at Sofia. “Hurry back my love, everyone is waiting for you!”

Sofia arrives at the car and turns around. She waves to Bob before she turns back to the car, knowing that when she returns to the mansion she will be exposing Cassie’s lies to everyone. She’s only at the car because Natasha forgot her shall and she wanted to get it for her. “Soon everything will be absolutely perfect,” she says to herself as she unlocks the front door and opens the door. As soon as the door opens, the car explodes into flames, causing all the guests to come pouring out of the front door of the Calimo mansion, wondering what the commotion is.

“Sofia! Sofia!” Bob yells as he falls to the ground a few feet away from the front door to the house, the glow of flames on his face. “Oh my god!”

More and more guests emerge outside as the car continues to burst into flames. Natasha comes out and sees her father on the ground. Panic immediately goes into her head as she wonders what happened. “Daddy?” she gasps coming up next to him, not understanding the how or why her car is on fire. And where is Sofia? She had gone to the car to get her shall. Everything is happening so quickly.

Bob doesn’t respond, he just continues to look at the burning car as tears fill his eyes. He feels her hand on his shoulder. “Daddy, what happened? Where’s mom?” Natasha asks him, not realizing that Sofia was caught in the explosion. “Why is my car on fire?”

Again silence comes from Bob’s mouth. He can’t bring himself to stop looking at anything but the fire. Suddenly another mini explosion erupts from the car as it fire found another little gas some where in the motor. Finally he looks over at Natasha and lets a tear fall from his eye. “She’s there,” he says softly as he points for the burning vehicle.

Natasha immediately gets tears in her eyes. “No,” she replies quietly. “No, this isn’t possible. No! No!” she cries as she falls to her knees and hugs Bob as she weeps uncontrollably.

Kim makes her way outside amongst the crowd and sees Bob and Natasha hugging on the ground as the car is engulfed in flames. “Someone call 911!” she yells frantically realizing that Sofia is in the burning car as Robbie comes outside.

“What the hell?” he asks dumbfounded, looking around the scene. “Kim? What happened?”

Kim looks at Robbie and feels herself getting teary eyed. How can she tell him that his mother is dead? She looks over at Natasha and Bob kneeling on the ground together. “My God Robbie, I don’t know how to say it,” she admits to him, drawing her eyes back to him.

“Just tell me! Why is Natasha’s car on fire? What the hell happened?” he asks growing impatient. He had been upstairs with Leah putting Paige to sleep. When he came downstairs, it was chaos and now he can see why.

“I don’t know what happened, but your mother was at the car when it exploded. Sofia … she went to the car.”

Robbie’s mouth falls open and he looks over at Natasha and Bob and rushes over to them. He falls down with them. “Tell me it isn’t true,” he pleads with them as tears fall from his eyes. “Mother can’t be gone. Can she? Please tell me this is a lie.”

Scene Two - Twin Peaks Police Department; Visitor’s Center

Vinny walks into the visitor’s center wearing his visitors card on his jacket so the police know that he’s on the list of people allowed in the room. He looks around the room and finds the table that he gets to see Meggan at. He is still a bit surprised that he got a call from Meggan just after the New Year saying that she was arrested for the attempted murder of Victoria. He doesn’t think that she purposely tried to kill Victoria, but he did suspect that she would get in trouble with the law after the story leaked in the Sun right before the election. Still, he thinks it was pretty cruel for the police to arrest her on New Year’s Eve.

He finds his table and sits down. Meggan soon emerges in her orange jump suit with her hands cuffed behind her back. She smiles at him. ‘Thank you for coming, I didn’t know who else to call,” she admits as she sits down across from him. The guard moves away leaving the two to have some privacy. “I can’t believe that I’ve been arrested again.”

Vinny looks at his ex and he can barely understand how she’s got herself into this mess. He knows that it was his brother that got her hooked on the alcohol again, but he never thought that she would hurt another person because of her drinking. “I can’t believe it either. You know it probably wouldn’t have been so bad if you didn’t try to keep it a secret like you did.”

“I know,” she admits as she bites her lower lip. “I was scared. I was trying to prevent this from happening again.”

“And yet here you are,” he snaps back at her, not sure how to react. “Sorry, that came across rude. I just don’t know what you want from me Meggan. I can’t really help you.”

Meggan looks at him and sighs. “Maybe calling you was a mistake. I didn’t know who else to call. It’s not like I have a lot of friends in this town,” she says to him. “I was hoping that you could help me. I mean, if you want to.”

“I don’t know how to help you Meggan.”

“Pay my bail?” she asks him with a glimmer of hope left in her. She doesn’t think he will pay her bail but she doesn’t want to stay in jail. She hates being left in the cell as she remembers from her time in jail after she was sentenced for killing Noah.

Vinny reaches over and grabs her hand and squeezes it, knowing that he is about to hurt her. “I can’t Meggan,” he tells her. “I know that you hate being locked up, but I have to think about my life right now. I lost the election because of your actions. Victoria is my wife now and you could have killed her. I don’t know how to move on from this. I can’t pay your bail Meggan. I’m sorry. I can’t get involved. Not this time.”

Meggan looks at him and tries not to cry. She has never felt so isolated before in her life; never felt so alone before in her life. She nods her head, “Okay. I guess that’s it then.”

Vinny nods and gives her half a smile as he stands up, “Okay. Good luck,” he tells her as he walks away from leaving her alone at the table with her fears of being left alone in jail.

Scene Three - The Tower’s, Floor Eight; Eva’s Condo

Will lays on the bed with Eva resting her head on his bare chest. The two caved and finally made love earlier in the evening after months of sexual tension. For Will, it was his first time with a woman since Olivia died last spring. He had craved Eva for some time but wasn’t sure it was the right moment until they kissed a few weeks ago during the blackout. Since that time, he has wanted her badly. When he showed up on her doorstep earlier in the evening, he didn’t know what to expect. The end result though is exactly what he had wanted.

Eva looks up at him and smiles. She hadn’t been with a man in years, not since she was in Europe. It’s not a time that she likes to think about nor has she in a long time. It did stir some memories when Will kissed her during the blackout a few weeks ago but for the most part she has been so focused on regaining her relationship with Natasha that nothing else has been in her mind. She’s so grateful that she has found Will though; the young man gave her exactly what she was looking for. “That was amazing,” she finally says up to him.

“You’re telling me,” he grins back at her as he leans down and kisses her again. “I’m glad we did this.”

“Me too,” she admits to him. “We shouldn’t tell anyone though. At least not at work, I don’t want people to know that a nurse is sleeping with the Chief of Staff.”

Will chuckles. “That’s fine. It’ll be just between us. I’m okay with that. As long as this wasn’t a one time thing. Now that I’ve had a taste of you, I want more.”

She looks at him and can see the lust in his eyes. She kisses him on the lips again before she pauses as she hears another siren outside the window. “I wonder what’s going on,” she says crawling out of bed and putting her silk robe over her body. She walks over to the window and sees some flashing lights speeding through the city streets. She walks over to the TV mounted on her wall and turns it on.

Will sits up in the bed as she reaches the news channel. “Breaking news … a car explosion at the Calimo Mansion. No word yet on any injuries…”

“Oh my God!” Eva yells looking back at Will . “I have to get there! What if Natasha has been hurt?”

Will crawls out of bed and rushes over to her. He looks at her in the eyes. “We don’t know anything yet Eva. We can’t go rushing there. I know you want too, but we have to think about this rationally.”

She looks at him and feels her blood boil. “How dare you! Natasha is my daughter. I have to see if she’s okay!”

“I know that she’s your daughter, but what if it’s just a huge misunderstanding? You don’t want to rush out there and intrude,” he tries to tell her. “I know you don’t want to hear this, but Natasha has made it clear that she needs space. You have to respect that.”

Eva sighs and looks back at the TV. “Okay, you’re right. But as soon as we find out what’s happened, I may have to go up there tonight.”

Scene Four - The Calimo Mansion

Natasha sits on the large sofa with a blanket wrapped around her. She’s not cold, but someone in the room thought that she should be warm after being outside in the cold snow for so long. She can’t stop thinking about the car being on fire. All of the flames surrounding her. She shuts her eyes and sees the flames again. She shakes her head still not able to grasp that her mother is dead. Tears silently fall from her eyes as she tries to come to terms with what has happened.

Bob paces around the room desperate for some kind of answers. He looks over and sees the large fire place roaring with flames. “Would some one put that fire out please!” he yells at the remaining guests in the house. “Now! I don’t want to see anymore damn flames!” He keeps replaying the scene over and over in his mind in slow motion. Sofia walking slowly to the car and waving to him before she opens the door and the car erupting into fire. He looks over as Kim rushes over and starts to put the fire out in the fireplace as Craig Benton comes into the room. “Bob, Robbie, Natasha, can I have a word with you guys?”

The three of them look over at Craig and slowly walk over to him. “What did you guys find out?” Robbie asks, still numb from the explosion.

“The firefighters have put the fire out,” he tells them. “I’m sorry to tell you this, but Sofia, there’s no way she survived the explosion. She’s gone.”

Natasha turns and falls into Robbie’s arms as Bob turns around walks over to the bar. He pours himself a brandy and downs it one gulp. He knew that when he saw the car explode that Sofia was dead. But hearing a doctor confirm it hits him hard. “I want everyone out of my house! The party is over! Get out!” he yells in anger. He doesn’t mean to lash out but the last thing he wants is for anyone to see him in this time. He needs time alone to grieve his wife. He wants to be with his family right now.

“Are you okay?” Robbie asks Natasha as they exit their embrace, knowing that all he wants is to be with his wife and baby right now.

She shakes her head no as tears continue to fall from her eyes. “Go find Leah, I know that’s what you’re thinking. I’ll be fine.”

“Are you sure?” he whispers as she nods her head.

He leaves the room knowing that Leah is still with Paige upstairs. Natasha walks over to Bob and hugs him. “Oh Daddy, how did this happen? I can’t believe Mom is gone! I can’t believe it!”

“Me either my beauty, me either.”

Dominick opens the door to the study and closes it behind him. He’s in shock. About an hour ago he looked into Sofia’s eyes and told her that she was beautiful. And now … he’ll never see her again. He goes to the bar and pours himself a drink. He slowly drinks it all down. Then he pours himself another one. He drinks it much faster. He puts his glass down and is about to pour a third when the door opens; Robin looks at her father. “Daddy?” she asks him as she comes up to him and hugs him. “My God, I can’t believe that there was an explosion on the car.”

Dominick holds her and feels her shake in his arms. He tries to say something but nothing can come out of his mouth. As he holds her, he finally is able to break down and let some tears escape from his eyes.

“Oh Daddy,” she says still holding him. “I know you cared for Sofia. I’m so sorry.”

He exit’s the embrace and wipes his eyes. “I just can’t believe she’s gone. I mean, who would do this? Who would try to hurt Sofia?”

“I wish I knew. I’m sure Robbie and the police will find out exactly what happened,” Robin tells him. “This night has been so crazy.”

Dominick arches his eyebrow. “Why do I get the feeling you’re talking about more than just Sofia?”

Robin looks back at her father, “I am, but this isn’t the time or place for me to get into that now Dad. Sofia died, you’re grieving, that’s all I care about right now.”

“I want to know what’s happening with you Robin. Please don’t shut me out. If tonight has proved anything to me, it’s how short we have on this earth. Talk to me, please,” he tells her grabbing her hands and wanting to hear what’s going on with her.

Robin sighs and looks at her father, “You’re not going to like this,” she tells him getting serious. “Melissa paid for Karl’s bail. She was behind my attack at the premier. My mother set it up to look like Cory was responsible,” she says to a dumbfounded Dominick.

***

Robbie opens the door to the nursery and immediately sees Leah sleeping on the chair next to the crib where Paige lays asleep. The light from the hallway causes Leah to stir awake. She looks up and sees her husband, who is look sad and with huge bags under his eyes still standing at the doorway. “What’s wrong?” she asks immediately knowing that something has happened just based on the way he looks.

He sits next to her and pulls her into a hug. “I don’t know how to tell you this.”

Leah looks him in the eyes, “Robbie? Please, just tell me what’s wrong. Did I miss the wedding?”

Robbie looks away feeling his eyes getting watery. “There was an explosion at Natasha’s car.”

Leah looks in horror as Robbie tells her the story. “Sofia was at the car when the first started,” he says trying not to choke up. “She’s … gone Leah. My mother is gone!”

Leah’s mouth falls open in shock as she pulls her weeping husband into her again. She holds him as he cries into her shoulder. “I’m so sorry Robbie. I can’t believe this,” she says as she holds him. “I’m here for you. Anything you need, I’m here for you.”

***

Cassie looks into the mirror in her small room where she was getting ready for the wedding. She looks over and sees her dress hanging on a hanger. She took it off as the wedding was obviously cancelled after the bomb went off. She can’t help but feel relieved. She had planned to get rid of Natasha tonight after the wedding, but after Sofia confronted her with knowing the truth about her secrets, everything worked out perfectly with Sofia going to the car before Natasha. She had to ensure that her secrets were safe and she didn’t even have to arrange for Sofia to go to the car, she went on her own. Cassie takes a deep sigh of relief knowing that her secrets died with Sofia. “No one will ever know anything now,” she tells herself, feeling lucky that Sofia went to the car instead of Natasha.

Cassie knows that she will have to stay calm as the police investigate the explosion and knows that they will find traces of the bomb that she made. She covered her tracks, she reminds herself and any figure prints wouldn’t be traced in the fire. She turns her head as she hears her door open. She turns and sees a stoic Shane standing at the door way.

"Hey," she says to him. "How's Dawn?"

Shane sighs, still struggling with what has took place tonight. He can't believe that Sofia is gone and he knows that the Calimo's, especially Natasha, will need support right now. "I asked Adam and Helen to take her home," he reveals, unaware of the tension Cassie feels knowing that Dawn is alone with her real parents. "I have to go to Natasha Cassie and make sure she is ok. I can't imagine what she is going through right now."

Cassie fumes inside. Of course he has to check in on Natasha, she thinks. "Fine, I will be down shortly. Can we just go home after? I don’t want to be here much longer."

"Of course," he says back to her as he turns to leave. " Come get me and we will leave."

She watches him leave the room and turns back to face the mirror. "That's why I wanted to get rid of you tonight Natasha," she whispers to herself, knowing that she has all the time in the world to get rid of Natasha now. "But that's fine. My secret is safe, Sofia had to go. I can deal with you in time."

***

Natasha folds her blanket and lays it on the sofa before she looks over to Bob, who is still drinking. He stares into the fireplace, which just as burnt logs on the bottom now. "Daddy are you ok?" she asks coming up to him and putting her arms around him.

"No I'm not okay. I don't know if I will ever be okay again." he says coldly to her. He doesn't mean to be cruel, it's just how he deals with his emotions.

Natasha turns and sees Shane enter the living room. She rushes over to him and hugs him. "If there's anything I can do..." he says into his ear.

"Thanks," she replies. "I think we are all just in shock right now, you know?" she says as Cassie comes into the room and sees Shane holding Natasha. Natasha looks over and sees Cassie enter the room but she doesn’t care. She pulls Shane in for a tighter hug and shuts her eyes needing to feel his arms around her.

"Excuse me," a police officer announces as he enters the room. "Mr. Calimo, we found something on the car that you should know about."

Bob turns and looks at the officer and then at Natasha. "I am listening."

"We believe we found traces of an explosive device," he reveals as Cassie tries to keep her cool. "It appears that there wax a bomb on the car."

"My God, how is that possible?" Natasha asks as she gets tears in her eyes. "That was my car!"

"Are you sure about this?" Bob asks the officer.

"We are still looking into all possibilities, but it looks that way. If it was your car, Ms. Calimo, then it raises a new question," the officer informs them.

"What question?" Natasha asks him as she wipes her eyes.

"There was a bomb on your car, so it appears that someone wanted to kill you. Not your mother."
