on One Day at a Time Scene One - St. Joseph's Church Natasha looks at herself in the mirror as she pulls her wedding gown down to remove some of the wrinkles that she sees in it. As she looks at herself, she puts her hand on her stomach, which is slowly starting to grow with the baby inside her. She knows that she was thin close to ending her pregnancy the other day before Shane came in and stopped the procedure. She shuts her eyes for a moment and sighs as she realizes how close she was to making a huge mistake. "Thank goodness your Daddy was able to stop me," she whispers to her child as she opens her eyes, grateful Shane put the pieces together before it was too late. She turns around when she hears a knock on her door. She turns around and sees Victoria, Donovan and Eva enter the bridal room, all with grins on their faces. "You look absolutely beautiful," Eva gasps at the sight of her daughter in her wedding gown. "I can't believe this day has finally arrived." "After everything Shane and I have been through, our wedding day is finally here," Natasha replies to her mother relishing in her moment. "Natasha," Donovan says stepping out from behind Eva. "I know we got off to a rocky start finding out we are brother and sister, but I hope you know that I am very happy for you today." "We both are," Victoria chimes in, standing next to her brother. "Thank you both," Natasha says grabbing one of each of their hands. "I know we haven't been a conventional family, but we've made it work. I really appreciate that you guys are here today." "We wouldn't have it any other way," Eva says as she comes up and hugs her daughter. "I love you so much Natasha." "I love you too Mom," Natasha replies as they exit their embrace. "Would you all mind terribly if I have a moment alone with Natasha?" Bob asks as he opens the door to the bridal room. "Good luck out there," Donovan tells his sister before the three of them turn around and exit the room leaving Bob and Natasha alone together. "My goodness you are stunning," he says coming up to her and kissing her on the cheek. "You know, your mother would be very proud of you today. And I don't mean Eva." Natasha gets a tear in her eye. "I know you meant Sofia. She will always be my mother to me, even though Eva is my biologically mother. Raising me still gives Sofia that honour. I feel her with me today." "I have felt her presence all day as well," Bob tells her daughter as he grabs her hand. "Are you sure you're ready to become Mrs. Shane Glubbs?" "Oh Daddy," Natasha smiles back to him. "I am more than ready. After everything we have been through, this seems like it should have happened a long time ago. Especially now " "Now what?" "We are going to have a baby Daddy," Natasha reveals to Bob as he moves in and hugs her again. "A baby, my beauty?" he asks as he holds her trying not to get a tear in his eye. "I will be a Grandfather?" "Yes, Daddy, you will be." *** In the men's dressing room, Adam helps Shane fix his bowtie as he helps his friend get ready for the wedding. Adam, of course, agreed to be Shane's best man, which seems appropriate to Adam considering how close they have become in dealing with the situation regarding Cassie in recent years. "It looks pretty straight to me," Adam tells his friend as Shane turns and looks into the mirror. Shane nods and puts his jacket on quickly buttoning up one of the buttons. He takes a deep breath. "Thanks for all your help Adam." "It's part of my job as best man," Adam smiles back to him. "Are you ready?" "As I will ever be," Shane nods back to him. "After everything you and Natasha have gone through to get to this point, nothing will ruin your day," Adam tells his friend as he pats his back. "I hope you're right," Shane replies to him. "I just want to be married to her already!" he laughs as Adam looks at his watch. "It looks like it's almost time to begin. I'll go see if Natasha is ready." *** A mysterious figure quickly hides behind a pillar in the church when they see the door open and Adam comes walking out of the room where Shane is getting ready. A piece of blonde hair can be seen as the figure looks into the room and sees Shane standing in his tuxedo as he finishes getting ready for the wedding. Scene Two - The Wilkins Estate; Madeline & Reese's Home "I'm sorry that we can't go to the wedding," Reese tells Andy as he sits on the sofa playing on his Ipad. "I'm just not feeling up to going out today." Andy looks over at him and smiles to Reese. "I don't want you to apologize to me every time you don't feel like you're up something," Andy tells him. "I know that you're going through major changes right now and your body is reacting to the chemo therapy." Reese nods back to him. "I didn't think I would feel so tired all the time," he admits to Andy. "And I have to admit, I don't feel very attractive with all this hair I'm losing. I almost feel like I should wear a cap or something." "Maybe we can go look for some together?" Andy asks his boyfriend. "I'm sure you could pull off the toque look too." Reese chuckles a little before he gets water in his eyes and looks over at Andy. "Thank you for making me laugh." Andy moves closer to his boyfriend on the sofa. "I know you're scared but I am here for you." "I know you are," Reese replies to him. "And, just know that I couldn't be going through this without you next to me." Scene Three - St. Joseph's Church "Is this seat taken?" Craig asks Donovan, who is already sitting in a pew. Donovan looks up at the doctor and shakes his head no. Donovan recalls how Craig has been flirting with him more and more often, despite Donovan telling him that he wasn't interested in going out on a date with him. Donovan also knows that Victoria has been telling him that he has to let himself learn to love again, which is easier said than done. Donovan shuts his eyes for a moment and immediately he sees the piercing blue eyes of the man he was in love with in Europe. He shakes his head as he opens his eyes. "You can sit with me if you'd like," Donovan finally says back to Craig, who sits next to him. "Thanks," Craig says with a smile. "Where did you go after I asked you if I could sit with you?" "What do you mean?" Donovan asks him. Craig shrugs. "It looks like you got lost in a daydream or something." "I guess I was telling myself that maybe it's time I start to move on," Donovan admits to Craig. "Ah," Craig replies to him. "I'm not going to pry but I'm hoping that it is a good sign for me," he winks over to Donovan. Donovan laughs and looks back at Craig. The two look at each other for a moment before looking forward. Donovan feels himself blush and looks back at Craig for a moment, wondering if he should start to move forward with his life. *** Victoria sits by herself for a moment as she awaits Robbie to arrive and sit with her for the wedding. She looks around the church and observes the flowers and the candles that create a warm glow in the church. At the altar, there is an archway that is covered in white lilies where Shane and Natasha will soon be standing under together saying their vows. Victoria knows that she hasn't had the best of luck with men in her past but the last year and a bit with Robbie has been wonderful. She has never felt more secure or in love with anyone else before. "I wonder if maybe one day we will get married," she whispers to herself, still looking around the church and suddenly planning her own wedding day in her mind. [FLASH] The church is filled with family and friends as the wedding march begins to play. Everyone stands up as the back doors open and Victoria emerges in a long, white wedding dress. She slowly walks down the aisle and finds Robbie waiting for her. "Do you Victoria take this man to be your wedded husband?" Father Murphy asks her. "I do," Victoria smiles back to everyone. "And do you Robbie take this woman to be your wedded wife?" the Father asks Robbie. "I do take Victoria," he says. [FLASH] "Victoria?" Robbie asks as Victoria shakes her head and looks up at Robbie, who is standing at the end of the pew. "Are you okay? You looked a million miles away just now." "I'm more than okay," she smiles as he sits next to her and she gives him a kiss. "I'm just realizing how blessed I am to have you in my life." *** Across the aisle in another pew, Jeff and Leah sit beside each other waiting for the ceremony to begin. Leah's mind, however, is racing from a few days earlier when she and Jeff saw Meggan at Noah's gravesite. She can't believe that Meggan would have the nerve to go to Noah's tomb when she is the reason that he is dead in the first place. She knows that Meggan claims to be a changed woman and she is still haunted by what she did, but Leah doesn't know if she will ever be able to forgive the woman that took her son's life. "You've been pretty quiet all morning," Jeff finally tells his finance as he looks over at her. "What are you thinking about?" Leah sighs and looks back at him. "I guess I can't stop thinking about seeing Meggan at Noah's grave the other day. I knew she wouldn't stay away from Twin Peaks forever but I really didn't think she'd show up at this tombstone on the anniversary of his death." "I know it was difficult for you," Jeff replies to her. "I have to admit it was weird for me seeing her there too." "Why do I get the feeling there is a but coming from you?" Leah asks him, almost shocked that he is seemingly going to defend Meggan. "But," he says with a slight grin. "I thought what she said to us seemed genuine." "You can't be serious!" she says back to him floored by his admission. "Look, I don't think I will ever get along with the woman and I certainly don't expect you too either but I believed her when she said she had changed and she is haunted by her past mistakes. I think we all have done things that we are haunted by." "Killing an innocent child is more than a past mistake," Leah spits back to him. "I just think we shouldn't be angry about it anymore. It happened so long ago, it's not healthy for us to hold this grudge and wear ourselves down. Especially because we have so much to be grateful for." Leah turns to him and smiles a little. "You realize that as soon as this wedding is over we will be going to Lake Tahoe to have our own wedding, don't you?" Jeff smiles and leans in and kisses her. "See, that's what I'm talking about. Let's focus on the positives like our wedding." "Okay, you win," she says as their lips part. "No more talk of Meggan Richardson." *** "How about we sit over there?" Vinny asks Daisy as he points to a pew that is empty currently. Daisy nods her head and they walk over to the pew and find their seats. Vinny looks over at his fiancé as they sit down and realizes that she hasn't said very much to him this morning. He only wishes he could read women's minds better so he would know the right thing to say to her to make her feel better. "Beautiful day for a wedding," he says to her as she nods to him. "Okay, I give up what have I done that I'm getting the cold shoulder?" Daisy looks over at him with intent shocked that he doesn't know what he has done. "Do I really have to tell you?" she asks in an angered whisper. The last thing she wants to do is create a scene in the church right before a wedding. "I'm afraid you do," Vinny admits to her. "I can't think of what I could have done to upset you like this." "How about our new house guests?" she replies to him as she looks forward again. "Did you even ask me how I would feel about your ex-wife and her family living with us?" Vinny shakes his head. "I thought I was doing a good deed," he tells her. "They just moved back to the city from Europe and Meggan was talking about living in a hotel. It just didn't seem comfortable to me." "So you took it upon yourself to let them invade our space?" "The house is huge Daisy," Vinny continues to defending himself to her. "It's not like we will see very much of the Richardson's." "I'm sure you'll see enough of Meggan," Daisy spits back to him. "Is that what this is really about? You're jealous of Meggan?" he asks her as she turns to face him. "It is very clear that she wants you back," Daisy replies to him. "I trust you but I do not trust Meggan." "Trusting me Daisy means that you have nothing to worry about," he tells her as he grabs her hand. "I have no interest in my ex-wife." "Good," Daisy tells him. "But going forward, I would appreciate it if you would run ideas like this by me first. If we are going to be married, we have to be a team. One of us can't make a decision like this without consulting the other person first." "That's fair," he tells her as he leans in. "And I'm sorry that I didn't talk to you about it." "I forgive you," she says slowly as she gives him a quick kiss. "I just hope they find their own place quickly." *** Trenyce stands at the back of the church and looks around before she finally spots Daisy and Vinny. She sighs as she puts a smile on her face, knowing that she has to look happy about the day. Inside, however, she's still devastated by the fact that she has lost custody of Andrew. She knew going into the custody battle that it was a long shot; Natasha warned her from the get go that the chances of her getting custody would be slim because she is not Andrew's biological mother but she still thought that the judge would realize that Andrew was better off with her over Savannah. But that didn't happen and a part of Trenyce feels like she has lost Andrew all over again. "I just have to get through this wedding and I will be able to go home and not have to pretend to okay," she tells herself knowing that she'd love to crawl into bed and cry the day away. "I just have to get it all out then I will be okay and be able to start to move on." She feels a hand on her shoulder causing her to jump. She turns around and sees Chris standing behind her. "My goodness Chris, you scared me half to death." "Sorry," he says putting his hands up in the air. "I didn't mean to scare you. I just heard what you were saying and I wanted you to know that I'm here for you." "Do me a favor and don't repeat what I said to Daisy," Trenyce warns him. "I don't want her thinking that I can't handle losing Andrew again. I know it will be tough for the first little while but I will be okay with all of this." "I know you will be," Chris tells her. "You're a strong, young woman. We may have lost Andrew this round but " "But what?" Trenyce cuts him off. "There isn't going to be another round of losing Andrew. I've done that twice now." "I know," Chris replies to her. "Just hear me out Trenyce. I'm on your side in all of this. I still believe that we should be the ones raising Andrew not Savannah." "Too bad the Judge doesn't agree." Chris gives her half of a nod. "I have a plan. I think I know a way for us to get Andrew back," he reveals to her as Trenyce's eyes open wider in shock. He moves her away quickly to find their seats as the wedding is about to happen, however. *** Shane emerges at the alter with Adam standing next to him. He looks over at Father Murphy, who smiles back at Shane. The back doors open and Natasha emerges with Bob standing beside her. Everyone stands up as Natasha and Bob slowly walk down the aisle. Natasha looks over at Eva, Donovan, Victoria and Robbie and smiles at her family. She feels herself get a little misty when she turns and sees Shane standing waiting for her to arrive. "Who gives this woman to this man?" Father Murphy asks Bob as they arrive at the alter. "I do," Bob replies as he leans in and gives Natasha a kiss on the cheek. Before he turns around he looks at Shane, "You treat her right Shane." "I plan on it," Shane replies to Bob before Natasha moves up to stand beside Shane. "You look absolutely beautiful," Shane whispers to Natasha as she looks at him with a grin on her face. "Thank you," she replies to him. "I'm so happy that I'm about to become your wife for real this time." From the back of the church, the figure with blonde hair watches the wedding unfold. During the vows, the figure almost emerges from behind one of the pillars but something keeps her from doing so. Father Murphy doesn't notice the blonde figure lurking in the back of the church as he continues. "Do you Natasha take this man to be your wedded husband? To have and to hold in richness and poorness, in sickness and in health for as long as you both shall live?" Natasha looks deep into Shane's eyes and smiles. "I do. I want to spend the rest of my life with you Shane." "And Shane, do you take Natasha to be your wedded wife? To have and to hold in richness and poorness, in sickness and in health for as long as you both shall live?" "Oh yes, I do," Shane smiles as he looks back at Natasha. "By the power invested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife," Father Murphy proudly explains to everyone as the audience starts to clap. "You may kiss the bride." Shane and Natasha kiss as they finally become husband and wife as the blonde figure secretly sneaks out of the church, never seen by anyone. Next
