Natasha slowly pulls into the parking lot of the legal firm. She parks her car in the parking spot, and stops. She realizes that she is about to take the first step in regaining her life. She is about to reveal herself to her co-workers. They all suffered the months she was away, dead. But shes alive, and she wants to return to work.
How will they feel? she wonders to herself. Will they be mad at her for not returning sooner? Will they embrace her with love and affection? Only one way to find out.
Natasha slowly steps out of the car, and shuts the door. She walks towards the front door.
Cory opens the door to Natashas office. He remembers getting the phone call to clear out Natashas office, and how hard he thought it would be. He realizes his thoughts are coming true. He slowly enters the office and looks around. A couple of files are on her large oak desk, laying in the center. On right corner is Natashas phone and a pencil holder, which has pens not pencils. In the left corner are her pictures. He slowly walks over and picks up the first photo. Its a photo of Cory and Natasha on their wedding day. Cory slowly rubs his finger over Natasha, and tries not to cry. He places it down, and picks up the other photo. Its a photo of Natashas family--Bob, Sofia, Robbie and herself.
"So many memories," he says to himself, as a tear strolls down his cheek. He puts the picture down and wipes away his tear, as he hears someone enter the office.
"Mr. Calvin, Im so pleased you came," Jean Porter smiles at Cory. Jean is the head secretary at the legal firm.
"Its not problem. I should be here to help you clean out her office. I have to warn you though, it may take awhile. I never realized how hard this would be," Cory replies.
Jean doesnt reply immediately. She studies Cory. What a loving man, she thinks. How wonderful he was to Natasha. How wonderful he still is in honoring her memory.
"You can take all the time you need, Mr. Calvin."
"Cory," she smiles, and hesitates. "Please take all the time you need. Ill be at my desk if you need anything--anything at all."
"Thank you Jean," Cory says, as she leaves the office. She slowly shuts the door behind her. Cory walks over the windows, which show into the lobby area and he pulls the blinds. He walks back over to the desk and sits behind it. He stops again. The smell of the office was familiar. He realizes of course, that its the smell of Natasha. The office smells of Natasha. A soft, sweet and very particular smell. Cory sits back in the leather chair and breathes the smell of his dead wife. Suddenly she feels so close to him again, as though she was with him. Another tear begins to creep in the corner of Corys eye. He quickly wipes it away, and sits up in the chair, letting out a sigh as he moves forward.
"Lets get this over with," he says as he opens the top drawer of the desk.
As Cory is pulling out some papers, the door handle begins to turn. The door slowly opens. Its Natasha! She quickly sees her husband. Startled at the sight of Cory, she shuts the door. She lets out a deep breath, almost frightened. She is about to leave, when she stops herself. She tells herself that its time Cory know shes alive. She wants him to know that shes alive. She places her hand back on the door handle and turns it. The door opens, and Natasha enters the office.
Leah slams the front door shut, and tosses her purse on the near by table. She storms into the den, and continues to pace around. How could this be happening again? she asks herself, as the images of seeing Robin, her sister, in the arms of Robbie, her husband.
Have I been a fool all this time? Was Robbie lying when he said the affair was over? she thinks to herself. Leah stops pacing in front of the fireplace. She looks up on the mantle and grabs the picture of Robin and Corys wedding.
Suddenly the front door opens. Robbie enters. He sees Leahs purse and realizes shes home.
"Leah," he calls. "Are you home for lunch?"
Leah remains in the den, and doesnt say a word. She still gazing at the photo of Cory and Robin. Tears stroll down her cheek, and land on the glass. Robbie enters the den, and sees his wife crying.
"Leah, baby, what is it? Whats wrong?" he asks her, as he approaches his wife.
Leah looks up and her husband, the tears continually flowing from her eyes. "Why?" she simply says, wiping her face. "Why did you lie to me? Why?"
"Leah, I dont know what youre talking about. But you have to believe me when I tell you that I am not lying to you. I love you. You have to know that."
"I dont know anything anymore Robbie."
"Where is this coming from Leah?"
Leah puts the picture back on the mantle and looks at her husband. "I saw you Robbie. I saw you and Robin together at the station!"
Robbie quickly realizes that Leah saw Robin hugging him. "What you saw was an innocent hug, Leah. Nothing more. I promise."
Leah sits down on the sofa and puts her hands over her face. Robbie moves over and sits next to her.
"Leah, what is it? Theres more then just seeing Robin and I hug. Youve been acting strange for weeks now," he says putting his hand on her leg. "Please talk to me."
Leah looks at her husband. She looks into his loving eyes. She places her hand on his face. "I love you Robbie," she whispers.
"I love you too. Thats why I need you to tell me whats going on."
"OK. OK, I will," Leah says, wiping her face. "Before I met you..." she begins.
Kim is sitting at her desk, typing on her computer. She takes a quick sip of her coke and a bite of the take-out Chinese food and continues to work on tomorrows column. Her train of thought is interrupted by her telephone ringing.
"Hello," Kim says impatiently, annoyed that the caller interrupted her work. She becomes more annoyed when the phone goes dead. "Asshole hung up," she says to herself hanging up the phone.
She returns her focus on her computer and lunch.
Robbie gets up from the sofa. A few tears in the corner of his eyes. Stunned is what hes feeling. Leah, his wife, just told him the most shocking piece of news. Before she knew him, she got pregnant and married the father. She had a baby who she believed was dead. But now her son, and her husband are back.
Leah continues to weep on the coach. She looks at her husband, trying to soak in this information. She wonders how hell react. Will he be angry? Will he be understanding? Forgiving? She has to know.
"Please say something Robbie," she says softly.
Robbie looks at his wife, and puts his hands behind his head.
"I just dont believe it. Why, why wouldnt you tell me this Leah? Why would you keep something like this from me?" he asks.
"I dont know. I guess I didnt want to go through the pain of losing my child again. And I didnt exactly know how to bring it up either."
Robbie paces around. "How many times have you seen Jason and your...," he pauses. "...son?"
"A few times. Why?"
"Do you think he could be lying about Noah?"
Leah begins to cry again. She realizes that Robbie is trying anything to make her news not a reality.
"I believed that too. But I got Shane to run a DNA sample. It was a match," Leah says. Leah gets up and walks over to Robbie. She places her hand on his back. "Please tell me you still love me. Please tell me you still want me," she cries.
Robbie turns around and embraces Leah.
"Of course I still love you Leah. I always will," he says.
Kim stops typing on her computer. She sits back, and gets a smile on her face. Done, she thinks to herself. And what a great article. One of my best yet.
She tosses her take out boxes in the garbage, and hits the save button on the computer. She turns to her filing cabinet and grabs her coat and purse.
With her back to the to door she is unable to see someone enter. She turns around and sees Jackson standing in her doorway.
"Good Lord Jackson! Are you trying to give me a heart attack?" a startled Kim asks.
"No, but I do have a surprise for you," Jackson says pulling a bouquet of red roses from behind his back.
Kim gasps. "Oh, Jackson they are beautiful!" Kim pauses. "Why are you giving me flowers?"
Jackson smiles and places them down on her desk. "I thought you could use a nice surprise," he says moving towards her. "How about a hug thank you?"
Kim hugs Jackson.
Natasha enters her office and shuts the door behind her. Cory looks up and sees Natasha!
"Oh my God," he says as tears fill his eyes.
Natasha looks at her husband. "Hello Cory," she says softly.
Cory slowly gets up from the chair and moves towards Natasha. He stands apart from her, looking at her to see if shes real. He slowly reaches his hand to her face. When his hand touches her cheek, tears stream down his face.
"Oh my God! Youre alive!" he says. He grabs her and hugs her.
"Yes, Cory Im alive!" she says, relieved.
He looks back and kisses her on the mouth. "Ive missed you so much. You have no idea how much Ive missed you." he says.
Adam arrives at Helens hospital room door as her doctor is leaving. He decides to check in on her condition.
"How is she, doctor?" he asks.
The doctor informs him that she is in stable condition and is resting right now. "You are more than welcome to look in on her, but try not to disturb her sleep." The doctor them gives him a comforting look "All right, I will check on her again in 15", she says before departing.
Adam thanks her and then walks into Helens room and quickly notices the machines and her calm and innocent presence. Suddenly, Helen begins to shrug as if she is having a disturbing dream. Adam moves closer, hoping seeing his face would be a comfort, if she awake. Helen begins to mumble incoherently "relationship Adam " Her eyes then begin to open.
Adam greets her and asks how she is doing.
Helen responds with a bit of a struggle, "I -- Im O Kay." Attempting to touch her head, "my head hurts a bit. Why you why are you here?" Managing to get out the words, finally.
"Well, I care and I was concern when I heard what happen, do you remember anything?" Adam asks.
Victoria walks into her apart and throws her keys down on a nearby coffee or marble table.
"Adam, are you here? Or would that be too much to hope for?"
Victoria quickly turns her attention to the television, trying to find something else to focus her attention on. After a couple minutes of flicking through the television, her eyes grew tired.
"My god, is there anything good on today, must be some Jewish holiday." She then turns off the television realizing there is no hope of catching something interesting and then turns to a women magazine titled How to Snag your guy, the top 10 ways without lifting a Finger. She flips through the paper and lets out a couple of Oohs and Ahs, swiftly falling asleep.
"Good afternoon, Dr. Glubbs!" Rebecca says delightfully.
"Hello Rebecca and please call me Shane, no reason to act as if were strangers."
Rebecca walks into the office and Shane closes the door behind him and instructs her to take a seat.
"Right there is fine. Okay, what do we have here?" Takes out her file and flips through the medical work and finds her toxicology results. "Well, your checkup confirms that the poison is not in your bloodstream or that the spider bite did not contain venom. So I think you are going to be fine."
"Thank God, that is good to hear, I appreciate your seeing me, I wish I could show how much I appreciate you making the time to see me."
"Well, there is one way." Shane suddenly blurts out, noticing how Rebecca moves forward, widening her eyes in curiosity.
"Oh, hows that?" she asks, although she believes she already knows the answer.
Shane wonders for a moment whether he should, but realizing he needs to move on from his feelings for Natasha, and this could be his chance.
"How would you like to accompany me to dinner tomorrow night?" he asks, trying not to make clear eye contact with her.
Rebecca eyes widen more, as the question catches her off guard.
"Well", she begin. Then she wonders what Jason would think. Another man...no, another attractive man, asking her out to dinner. Could be the perfect way to get a more serious relationship from him, she thinks. "All right Shane, why not?"
Shanes face lights up, but he quickly hides it since he doesnt want to give away his intentions.. "Tomorrow then, 8 oclock and dress casual."
The clock strikes noon, as Victoria lies down complacently, enjoying her dream or so it seems at the moment.
Victoria is lying on a couch in red, sexy silk lingerie. Adam comes through the door.
"Honey, you awake?" He walks over to the couch and sees her sleeping beautifully. "God, youre beautiful, how could I even considered sleeping with Helen or any women with such a heavenly thing as you waiting for me at night?"
Victoria stirs and begins to open her eyes and Adam decides to awaken her with a kiss. Victoria soon awakens and welcomes the embrace, but then finally takes a chance to breathe.
"Whats wrong with you tonight?" she asks
"Nothing, I just never seen you look so beautiful, I just cant help myself."
"In that case, continue." she purrs.
Adam then continues to kiss her and Victoria then flips him over and takes her mouth from his, using her hands to slip out of her negligee as Adam watches adoringly. When she finally slips it off, closing her eyes at the final unveiling and giving Adam a chance to appreciate the sight, she opens her eyes to a gun at her buxom.
The bullet enters her lower chest as the blood begins to pour, she looks up at Adam.
"Why?" Suddenly Adam innocent face changes to Vinnys cruel face.
"You know too much, you know too much!" Vinny shouts! The words echoing through her mind.
Helen tries to exercise her brain for a couple of moments.
"Well, I dont remember enough to tell you how to avoid future headaches like mine." Helen smiles.
Adam grins, "Well, what do you remember?"
Helen tries to explain the cryptic flashes of information. "I dont know, its bungled. One point I am talking with you, and then Im in some kind of library."
Adam notices the confused expression on her face, but tries to get past that obstacle. "Why dont you try closing your eyes and then picturing what little you can remember?"
Helen is skeptical but closes her eyes anyhow and concentrates for a couple of minutes, but nothing comes to her. "Nothing. No, this is useless, if I knew something, it would come and it has not."
"I think you should at least try once more." Adam begins to press her.
Helen then becomes upset and starts to cry "I have tried, cant you see I cant remember."
Adam attempts to soothe her as the doctor walks in and sees Helen near tears.
"Whats going on in here?" she asks.
Adam turns to the doctor; "I was just asking her some questions about the night of her accident."
"Well, I think Helen has had enough, so Im afraid I am going to have to ask you to leave," she orders Adam. The doctor tends to Helen as Adam sees that it is useless to argue and says good-bye to Helen, departing the room.
Helen appears and says, "Quite a beautiful justice for you too lay in a pool of blood and no one to help you just like you left me, you little witch. Why? Why? Because Adam knew seeking pleasure from you is like sleeping with a rock, cold and dead. Why did you do it?"
Her face then morphs into Meggan. "Why couldnt you have just warned me?" Just one warning? One warning " she pleas.
Vinnys voice is then evident, "You know too much, Im sorry."
Suddenly shes making love to Adam as Helens voice outcries, "Do it, Shoot it." Victoria turns to Helen, "What?" and then to Adam, gasping as a bullet enters her lower chest.
The faces continue to interchange. Adam, then Vinny, then Meggan. Spinning all around in confusion. Everyone saying something different.
Adam turns to Vinny, "Go ahead, you can finish her."
Victoria screams again!
"Oh god!" Victoria sighs, awakening. She quickly looks for the nearest mirror and then at her shirt, "Thank god, it was a horrible nightmare. But what did it mean? Why was Vinny saying I know too much?"
