on One Day at a Time Scene One - The Black House; Adam, Helen & Barbara's Home "I just can't believe that you decided to file for divorce," Dawn tells Helen as she comes into the living room, interrupting a discussion between Helen and Barbara. Dawn recalls how Barbara told her that Helen had decided to file for divorce, which surprised her because at Andy's gala, she told Adam and Helen that she really wanted them to stay together. She has no idea how that conversation translated into Helen filing for divorce so soon afterwards but she believed that her opinion would matter to Helen and this talk of divorce would go away. "Doesn't our family mean anything to you at all anymore?" Helen signs and looks back at her daughter. She had hoped that she could sit down with Dawn and tell her why she's decided to file for divorce, even though she isn't sure she knows herself. She recalls how Chris kissed her recently and that made her feel more alive than she has in months. Chris is a very attractive man and Helen can't deny that she is attracted to him; considering how much she and Adam have grown apart, she thought the divorce was the right thing to do. But, she knows that she can't tell Dawn that she kissed Chris and that is why divorced Adam. "I wish Barbara hadn't told you anything," Helen says as she darts a glare over to her Mother. "I wanted to be the one to tell you." Adam emerges from the foyer and looks at his wife too. He didn't wait for someone to answer the door, he used his key to come into the house so he could talk to Helen about getting the divorce papers. He, just like Dawn, is taken aback by the fact that Helen wants to divorce him since the last time they spoke, she agreed to talk to him about it. "I wish you had been the one to tell me too," he says as he comes into the living room. "How did you get in here?" Barbara asks him as she stands up from the sofa. "I still have a key, this is still my house" he replies to her. "Not that this is any of your business." "Adam, please," Helen pleads with him. "Don't start this fight." "Fight?" Adam asks her in surprise. "The last time I saw you, you agreed to talk about our marriage, do you remember that?" he asks her as Helen gulps. "Next thing you know, I'm getting served divorce papers. Do you know how floored I was?" "I'm sorry," Helen replies to him quickly. "I just don't understand Mom," Dawn tells her as she fights back some tears in her eyes. "I told you I wanted our family to stay together and then this is what happens. Why would you do this to us?" Helen looks at daughter and moves closer to her. "No, please don't touch me right now!" Dawn cries, making Helen realize how upset Dawn really is. "This all started when your father had an affair," Helen tries to push the blame to Adam. "I haven't been able to get past that." "But you agreed to talk to me," Adam interjects. "I'd love to know why you changed your mind about talking to me. What could have happened?" "Nothing happened!" Helen finally snaps back at him. "I just realized we were too far apart to fix anything. That's all, okay?" Before anyone can say anything else, the doorbell rings. Helen wipes her eyes and moves into the foyer to get the door. "Chris," she says in surprise, seeing the man on the other side of the door. "Hey you," Chris smirks back to her. "Is this a good time?" he asks as he comes into the house, just as Dawn and Adam emerge in the foyer at the same time. "I think I understand now," Adam tells his wife as he puffs out his chest. "This is why you didn't even give me the chance to discuss our marriage. You're involved with this guy now, aren't you Helen?" Dawn looks back in shock before she rushes out of the house. "Dawn," Helen says out as she covers her mouth. "Leave her, she needs time," Adam says as he grabs his jacket. "I think we all do." After Adam leaves, Chris looks back at Helen. "I'm guessing this wasn't a good time." Helen falls into his arms as tears fall from her eyes. "No, but I'm glad you're here now." Scene Two - Tyler's Townhouse "I'm glad you could make time for me this morning dear," Felicia tells Paige as she sets a pot of tea down in the living room on the coffee table. Felicia looks at her young granddaughter and wonders how she is feeling; Felicia recalls being informed by Robbie and Jeff that Paige and Shane had sex at the Calimo cabin the night of the gala. While Felicia realizes that Paige is a young woman and she is at the age where she could be exploring her sexuality, the fact that she was with a much older man is alarming. Felicia just hopes that Paige will open up to her, since she is also a woman. "You know I love spending time with you," Paige replies to her as she pours two cups of tea. "I just hope you know that I don't want a lecture. I've heard enough of those from my Dad's." "How did Dominick react to the news?" Felicia asks her. Paige recalls Dominick coming over to her the previous day after he learned about her and Shane being together. Like everyone else, he was concerned and furious with Shane. Paige hates that everyone is so angry with Shane and that he is in jail. All she was hoping to do was make Shane realize that they could be together. Paige also knows that Dawn is helping her with this cover-up; she promised Paige that she will do anything she can do offer assistance in helping her keep up this lie. The more people question and grill her, however, Paige feels like she may not be able to keep up with the lie. "Not well," Paige sighs back to her Grandma. "And I'm not sure what the fuss is all about. I'm a growing woman. This was bound to happen sooner rather than later. I just wish everyone would stop making such a big deal about it." "The big deal is that Shane is a much older man," Felicia tells her daughter. "And you're not of age yet. That's why Robbie and Jeff are so upset. They believe that Shane took advantage of you." "But he didn't," Paige says back to her as she moves a piece of hair behind her ear. "I wanted to be with Shane. I've had those feelings for some time." "I understand," Felicia admits to her. "There are a few other problems, though, Paige. Shane is a married man, did that cross your mind at all?" "He's not happy with her," Paige defends herself. "He hasn't been for some time. We work together at the hospital and he started to confide in me," she continues as she can see the look Felicia is giving her. "That's how this all started. We've been growing closer Grandma." Before Felicia can say anything, Paige hears her cellphone start chiming. She grabs her purse and pulls it out. "Hello," she says as she picks up her phone. "Yes, this is Paige Claus," Paige says as she feels the blood drain from her face as she continues to listen to the person on the other end of the phone. "I understand. Thank you." She hangs up the phone and looks back at her Felicia. "I'm so sorry Grandma but I have to go," she tells her. "We'll finish this later?" "What's the rush dear?" "I have to go see Dawn, this is urgent," Paige tells her as she rushes to the door, sending Dawn a text message to meet her immediately, as she is still reeling from the phone call that she just received. Scene Three - Twin Peaks General Hospital "So, the good news is that everything is perfectly fine with you and your baby," a doctor tells Caroline, as she lays in the bed as she just had a check-up to see how the baby is doing. "You're doing everything just perfectly with the pregnancy." Caroline nods back to her. "I'm glad. I just want the best for this baby." "I do have a question for you though, Ms. DeWitt," the doctor continues, thinking that Caroline is Rebecca. "Usually the father comes to these appointments with the mother to be. Will he be around?" Caroline looks back at her as she sits up on the bed. "I'm not sure. He could be here in the future. It's not a requirement that he shows up, is it?" "No, of course not," the doctor smiles back. "I just like to see an active father, that's all." *** In the waiting room, Cory quickly looks at his watch and realizes that the appointment should almost be over by now. He has been waiting for Rebecca because, to his surprise, she asked him to not to come into appointment with her. He was taken aback because a few days earlier Rebecca was asking him to be a part of the process with the baby. Cory would love to be with her right now, especially because he loved every minute of Robin's pregnancy. But, he quickly realizes, that is the difference in the situation: He wishes he could be with Robin and not Rebecca. "Nothing will change though," he whispers to himself as he stands up. "I have to do right by this baby." He starts to walk over to the room where Rebecca is having her appointment. "Let's go see how everything went." *** "Thank you, again, doctor," Caroline smiles as the doctor leaves the room. She stands up and fixes her hair as Rebecca opens the other door to the room and quickly scurries inside. "Sounds like everything is going smoothly," Rebecca tells Caroline, who nods back to her. "I told you that nothing will go wrong with this plan," Caroline replies to her. "We have to figure out a way to get Cory into these appointments," Rebecca says back to her. "He really wanted to come in." "You'll have to deal with that. We both know that Cory can never come to one of these appointments because you're not the one with the baby." Before Rebecca can reply, there's a knock on the door. "Rebecca?" Cory calls out from outside the room. "Can I come in?" Caroline grabs her purse and quickly rushes out of the other door. Rebecca looks in worry as she sees the door knob start to turn and Cory quickly appears, just as Caroline finishes closing the other door. "Did you hear me call out?" Cory asks her as she turns around from seeing the other door close. Rebecca silently breathes a sigh of relief. "I did," she smiles to him. "I was just about to answer you. How about we go get some lunch and I can tell you how great the baby and I are doing?" "That sounds great!" an oblivious Cory replies to her. Scene Four - The Park "You can't tell me that you aren't feeling awkward about having to find Trenyce and Chris' baby," Lukas tells his sister as they sit on a bench in the snowy park looking at the slowly thawing river as he just finished listening to Meggan explain that she is looking for their missing child. "I know that you have a history with Dave Victors." Meggan sighs as she takes a sip of her hot chocolate. "It's weird because I'm forced to go back to a time of my life that I'm not proud of," she admits to her brother. "I hate that I let that man dictate a part of my alcoholism. When he locked me up in that room," she continues to tell him as she remembers her past. "All he gave me was booze and I turned to the bottle hard." "I'm glad that you're not in that place anymore," Lukas replies to her. "And it's nice that Chris and Trenyce trust you to find their child." "Well, they assume I have some insider information because I took over the PI firm from Madeline Wilkins and the truth is, I don't," Meggan tells him. "It's going to be a hard case. But, what's going on with you? Have you finally decided what you want to do with your life and the men in your life?" It's Lukas' turn to sigh a little before he gets a sly grin on his face. "No, I haven't," he admits to her. "And the truth is, I have no idea when I will decide." "You realize that the two guys won't wait around forever, right?" "Of course I do," Lukas replies to her. "I guess a part of me hopes that they both move on. It would prevent me from making this choice." "Oh Lukas," Meggan moves over to put her arm around him. "Don't let your life get away from you. You can still be in control of this." Scene Five - The Calimo Mansion "Come here Mr." Kim smiles as Blake rushes up to her and gives her a hug as Tyler stands at the doorway, dropping Blake off from an overnight visit with his son. Tyler looks at the two hugging and can't help but get a smile on his face. Seeing the mother of his son and his child embracing warms his heart, despite the distance between him and Kim right now. "Did you have fun with your Dad?" Blake nods back to her and rushes over to Tyler, hugging his leg. "I love you Daddy!" "I love you too, buddy," Tyler says back to him. "Why don't you take your backpack up stairs and put your toys away for Mommy?" Tyler tells him as Blake grabs his bag and runs up the large stair case. "Thanks for dropping him off," Kim says as she stands up and fixes her skirt. "You know I love having my son," Tyler replies to her quickly. "I wish we didn't have to drop play tag with him. It'd be nice if we were all together all the time." Kim sighs and looks back at the man in front of her. She knows that he cares for her and a part of her will always care for him as well but she knows that she has been growing closer to Bob again and that means she has pushed Tyler away. "I know you want that," she says back to him quickly. "I just hope you understand." Tyler moves closer to her and puts his hand on her shoulder. "I don't understand," he informs her. "I don't know how you could give up on us when we are so good together." She feels his hand caress her face and she finds herself shutting her eyes. She doesn't know why she feels so vulnerable to Tyler right now, maybe it was the moment they just shared with together with their son, but she feels herself falling into him again. "We can't do this," she finds herself saying. "I'm in love with " "Don't mention his name. Not today," Tyler says as he leans in and is about to kiss her. Suddenly, Bob emerges from the living room. "Oh there you are darling," he says interrupting the moment. He knew he had to come in from the living room when he saw Tyler put his hand on Kim's face. There's no way Bob is going to let Tyler get the best of his wife again. "Yes, here I am," Kim feels her face blush as she turns around. "I was just saying goodbye to Tyler." "Why don't you go up and check on Blake while I see Tyler out?" Bob suggests to Kim, who nods. She quickly turns around. "Bye, Tyler," she says before she turns and walks up the stairs. Bob moves towards Tyler and looks back at the younger man. Once Kim is out of sight, Bob grits his teeth together. "Before you go, I think it's time we get a few things straight, don't you?" Bob whispers to Tyler. Scene Six - The Pampa Grill "I need a brandy, please," Adam says to the bartender as he moves up to the bar to have a seat. After learning that Helen is divorcing him because she is interested in Chris Michaels, he came to the restaurant in desperate need of something strong. He can't believe that his wife is already interested in another man after she promised him that they could talk about making their marriage work. "Actually, make it a double." The bartender gives Adam his drink and he quickly downs it. "I'll have another." "Rough night?" Robin asks her friend as she moves up to the bar. "You can say that again," Adam replies to her, not looking at her, but having another sip of his second drink. "I found out why Helen is divorcing me," he tells her. Robin sits next to him. "And why is that?" "She's seeing someone else already," he replies to her as he finally looks over at her. "She's dating Chris Michaels." "What?" Robin gasps in shock. "That doesn't seem like Helen at all." "Yea, well, I went over to talk to my wife and guess who showed up?" Adam continues to vent to her as he takes another drink. "Oh Adam, I'm so sorry," Robin replies to him as she puts her hand on his. "I know you're hurting right now, but try not to drown your sorrows too hard tonight, okay? You'll regret it in the morning." He looks back at Robin, who gets a glass of red wine put in front of her from the bartender. "What about you? Are you here drowning your sorrows too?" Robin looks back at her wine and then over at him. "It is that obvious?" she asks him. "Cory and Rebecca had an appointment with the OBGYN today. I guess it still stings that he cheated on me with my sister and they are having a baby together." "Of course it does," he replies to her. "That's not something you get over easily. Nor should it be something you get over easily." Robin smiles back to him. "Looks like we are in the same boat, huh?" "Why don't we have a toast to that, then? Being in the same boat," Adam says back to her as she raises her glass and they cheers each other quickly before taking sips of the respective beverages. Scene Seven - The Pier "I just can't believe it Max, you know?" Dawn says to her friend as she exhales a large amount of smoke from the joint they are sharing as they walk down the pier together. After she rushed out of her parent's house, she called Max and they agreed to meet to smoke some weed together. Dawn needed the escape from reality after finding out her parents are divorcing and that her Mom is involved with Chris Michaels. "I was so sure that my parents would get back together. Now, I find out that she's seeing Chris Michaels. What has happened to my family?" Max takes the joint from Dawn and inhales as he listens to her vent about her family drama. "I wish I could do something to help," he tells her as he passes the joint back to her. "Just listening is doing a world of good," she replies to him. "And of course, getting high is exactly what I needed." "Isn't Paige supposed to meet us here?" he asks her as she nods back to him. "Something urgent happened," Dawn replies to him. "I have no idea what it could be." "There you guys are," Paige says, almost out of breath as she approaches them. "You won't believe what happened." "Do you want to get high?" Max asks her as he passes her the joint. Paige waves her hand in the air to indicate that she doesn't. "Can we go somewhere and talk?" Paige asks Dawn, looking at her. "Don't worry about Max," Dawn replies to her quickly. "Whatever is happening, he won't betray our trust. What's going on?" Paige tries to catch her breath. "I got a phone call this evening," she reveals to them. "They got a court order." "A court order? For what exactly?" Dawn asks her. "I have to undergo a medical examination," Paige replies to her friend as she feels herself start to shake. "They want to see if I have been with a man sexually." "Oh Paige," Dawn says as she pulls her into a hug as a tear falls down Paige's face. "I'm so sorry." "I can't do this," Paige tells her through her tears. "I can't have some stranger touch me like that." "Don't worry," Dawn replies to her as she looks into her eyes. "I will help you with this. But you have to go through with this if you want to be with Shane. Be strong, okay?" "I can't! I can't be strong. Not when this is going to happen!" "I'll help you, just breathe. Just breathe," Dawn tells her friend, as she hopes that Paige will be able to carry out this plan because Dawn's plan of revenge on Natasha means even more now that her parents are divorcing. Scene Eight - The Calimo Mansion "What exactly do you want to get clear with me?" Tyler asks Bob, as he folds his arms across his chest. The last thing Tyler is going to do is be bullied by Bob Calimo. "I think you know exactly what I'm talking about," Bob smugly replies to him. "You are trying to make inroads with my wife again." At that very point, Tyler realizes that Bob's memory has come back, otherwise why would Bob have said that Tyler is making a move on his wife again. Tyler glares back at Bob shocked that Bob has been lying to everyone for months. "So, you remember everything? Does Kim know this? No, of course she doesn't," Tyler says back to Bob. "What kind of game is this?" "There is no game," Bob warns him. "Just stay away from my wife, or else." From the top of the stairs, Kim hears the entire conversation in the foyer. She gasps a little as tears fill her eyes. "My God," she whispers to herself. "Bob remembers!" Next
