Episode Theme song: "The Great
Forever" Janet Jackson Previously
on One Day at a Time Scene One - The Claus House "They will call you to testify, you know that right?" Jeff asks Paige as she sits in the living room of the house she grew up in even though she has never felt this tension in the house before. Jeff and Robbie thought it would be a good idea to have a talk with Paige about what to expect at the trial that is coming up very quickly for Shane, who was charged with statutory rape after Paige admitted to having slept with him at the Calimo cabin. Jeff and Robbie both know, however, that Paige didn't exactly have a great time the last time she was in the court room; when Jeff sued Robbie for half of Leah's estate. This is different though; Shane has to pay for taking advantage of Paige. Paige sighs as she looks back at her father before she nods to him. "I hate this so much," she whispers back to him. "First I have to go for this stupid medical exam and then I'll have to testify. I hope you two are happy with yourselves." "We are doing this because we love you," Robbie chimes into her, knowing that Paige clearly isn't happy about what is happening but he still needs her to realize what Shane did was wrong. "So embarrassing me about my sex life is love?" Paige asks him as she stands up and moves over to the bar to pour herself a glass of water. "I don't think you guys know what love is." "I wish your mother was here," Jeff tells Paige as she takes a sip of her water. "I feel like I let you down because I didn't talk to you about sex and boys. And now this has happened. This is all my fault." "It's not your fault," Paige replies to him quickly. "I just wish you guys wouldn't make such a big deal about this. I'm a grown woman now. I had sex with a guy! Who cares?" "It isn't what you did Paige," Robbie informs her as he comes up to her. "It is the fact that Shane should have known better." "He didn't take advantage of me, okay?" Paige snaps at them. "If you guys really loved me, you would listen to me and what I am saying. I wanted this to happen! Shane is innocent in all of this. And I hope you both know I'm going to say just that on the witness stand. God, I can't stand this! Any of it!" Before either man can say anything, Paige brushes past them and slams the front door shut. Robbie sighs before looking back at Jeff, wondering how they will through to her. "I don't know how we will ever get through to her," he whispers to Jeff. "I know, that's why I wish Leah was here. I think Paige needs her mother more than ever before." Scene Two - Twin Peaks Police Department; The Holding Cells "I haven't seen you in a few days," Shane tells Natasha as she sits down in the chair outside of his jail cell. He looks at his wife and wonders if she thinks that he is actually guilty in all of this; he needs her support more than ever before this pending trial but it doesn't seem like he is getting it. He wishes he could remember the night at the cabin; if he did, he thinks this would all make sense. But right now, nothing makes much sense to Shane. "I know," she finally replies to him, trying to be supportive. "I've been busy." "Too busy to come and see your husband?" he asks her. She starts digging in her purse to find her phone. She locates it and then pulls something up on to the screen. "I took a couple of pictures of Jacob for you," she tells him as she shows him the phone. "He misses you a lot." "God, look how big he is getting," Shane smiles at the sight of his son. "I am missing so much time from him right now. I hate this!" "I know that you miss him," Natasha replies to him. "But you will see him again. I have faith in that." "Does that mean that you think I'm innocent?" Natasha gulps knowing that the evidence against her husband is overwhelming. She has known Paige since she was born and she has no reason to believe that Paige would lie about sleeping with Shane. Given the fact that Shane can't remember anything that happened, it seems obvious to Natasha that they slept together and Shane is just not able to remember. She hates that he would get drunk and sleep with a minor. "Have you been able to remember anything else at all about the night at the cabin?" she asks him, dodging the question he asked her. "No," he replies to her. "And I've tried so hard to remember. I just I can't." Natasha moves closer to him. "I hope your memory comes back before the trial." "Me too," he tells her. "Thanks for showing me the pictures of Jacob. Tell him that I love him when you see him." "I will, Shane," she replies to him. " I will." Scene Three - The Calimo Mansion "Tell me, Bob," Tyler tells the older man in front of him as they are having a verbal war. Tyler had dropped Blake off from a visit and he shared a seemingly close moment with Kim before Bob interrupted it. Kim went upstairs to see how Blake was doing when Bob warned Tyler about going after his wife again. That's when Tyler knew that Bob had regained his memory and had been keeping it a secret. Tyler isn't even surprised by the move Bob because he knows how ruthless he can be. "How long has your memory been back? How long have you been lying to Kim? How long have you been lying to everyone?" "That's what I'd like to know myself," Kim announces to the men as she walks down the stairs, having overheard their argument. She had gone to check on Blake and overheard Tyler's revelation to Bob that his memory is back. She feels numb at the thought that he has been lying to her for months. "How long has it been, Bob?" Bob gulps as he realizes that he has been busted by Tyler and know Kim knows the truth as well. He didn't want the truth to come out this way but now that it has, he realizes that he can't really lie his way out of it. "Kimberly," he starts to tell her. "I thought you were with Blake?" "I was," she replies as she reaches the base of the stairs. "And then I was coming back downstairs and I happened to overhear you threaten Tyler. Is it true? Do you have your memory back?" "Of course he does," Tyler spits back to him, pissed that Bob has been keeping him and Kim apart. "I don't want to hear from you!" Bob turns and yells at Tyler. "I think you should leave! This is a conversation between my wife and I." "I'm not leaving you," Tyler says as he looks at Kim. "You can't trust a word this son of a bitch says!" She smiles back to him for a moment. "It's okay, Tyler," Kim replies to him. "I'll be fine. I'd like to talk to my husband about this. We'll talk later, okay?" "Kim, no, please don't do this," Tyler pleads with her, knowing Bob will try to spin this so he is the good guy. "Tyler," Kim replies to him. "I'm fine. I will be fine, believe me. I will call you later." "Okay," Tyler says back to her, thinking the worst is about to happen. Kim has told him she wants to be with Bob. Why would this change now? "You let me know if you need anything, okay?" Kim nods back to him before Tyler turns and leaves the house. Bob closes the door and then looks back at Kim. "You were awfully nice to him just now," Bob tells her. "Why wouldn't I be nice to him?" she replies to him. "He hasn't been lying to me! How long have you had your memory back?" "Darling," Bob starts to justify himself. "No, do not darling me, Bob! Tell me the truth and tell me now!" Scene Four - The Sugarbowl "Hey kiddo," Adam says to Dawn as he comes up to the back booth of the coffeehouse holding a coffee, having spotted his daughter when he was at the coffee bar. He recalls how he and Dawn were at the Black house the previous night confronting Helen about filing for divorce when Chris showed up and they realized that Helen had started seeing Chris, which is why she filed for divorce, not because of Adam's affair with Natasha. While Adam is upset with his wife for this, he can't help but feel like he and Dawn have grown closer as a result of learning the truth. He hadn't seen his daughter defend him in sometime, which he understands considering what he put her through when he had an affair with Natasha, so he feels like this is a step forward. "I'm glad I ran into you. Can I sit with you for a moment?" Dawn looks up at her father, knowing that she is supposed to meet Paige here soon. She doesn't know if she wants to see any member of her family right now because she is so upset with everything that is going on with them right now. She hates that Helen has filed for divorce which is breaking up her family. Which is why Dawn needs to see Paige, so she can get some kind of revenge on the woman who broke up her family. "I guess so," she tells him, taking a sip of latte. "I'm supposed to meet Paige in a little while." "I won't keep you long," he replies to her. "I just wanted to thank you." "Thank me? For what?" "You had my back at your Mom's yesterday," he tells her as he smiles at her. "I know that we haven't exactly been close lately and that's my fault, but I wanted you to know that I appreciate that a lot." "I hate that you and Mom are divorcing," Dawn admits to him. "I guess I didn't realize this until it was happening. And you know, I know that you did a lot of shitty things but I still want you and Mom to work it out. I always believed that would happen." "That's the thing about people," Adam replies to her. "We make mistakes. I know my affair with Natasha caused you and your Mom a lot of pain but I'm trying to make up for it. I just wish that your Mom could see that." "I just hope it's not too late Dad," Dawn says back to him. "I really hope it's not too late." Scene Five - Bruno's Gym "I'm glad I ran into here again," Lukas announces to Andy, who is wiping his face with a towel after he just stepped off the treadmill. Andy looks back at his friend and can't help but, again, notice the bulging biceps on Lukas. He shakes his head trying not to notice how attractive he is but at the same time, it's been a long time since Reese died. Still, he knows that Lukas is a friend, and already torn between Craig and Donovan. This is the last thing that Lukas could need, Andy tells himself. "Are you?" Andy finally says back to his friend. "Why is that?" "I need you to spot me," Lukas tells him as he looks over at the weight bench. "You need me to do what to you?" Andy gulps, trying to get his head out of the gutter. "Spot me, you know help me with my weights." Andy blushes. "Of yea, of course," he smiles as they walk over to the bench. "How's it going, by the way?" Lukas lays down and starts lifting some weights as Andy ensures he is okay with the weight limit. "Not bad," Lukas says in between breaths. "That's good. I know you've been struggling with the decision of whether you want to be with Donovan or Craig," Andy says back to him, glad that the conversation has turned around. "Yea, I have," Lukas breaths out heavily. "I've made a decision, though." "Oh yea? That's good news." "I'm going to leave town," Lukas says as Andy puts the weight back in their holder and Lukas sits up. Andy passes him a bottle of water and he quickly drinks some, before he towels off. "I don't understand," Andy admits to him, stunned by what he just heard. Andy assumed that Lukas had made a decision on which guy he wanted to be with. "Why are you running from this?" "Because," Lukas says as he swallows some water down. "I can't make a decision with those two and it's not fair to put them through that." "Where are you going to go?" Lukas stands up and looks at Andy. "Probably to my family's estate in Santa Barbara," Lukas reveals to him. "Thanks for being such a good friend Andy. Maybe when if I come back " "What?" "You and I?" Lukas smiles at him. "I saw the way you're looking at me." Andy blushes again. "No, Lukas. We are friends. And you have two great guys already interested in you. I don't want to complicate things further for you." "I just wish I knew what to do. That's why I want to leave. Some time away will be good for all of us. And, maybe, Craig and Donovan will move on too." "I hope you're making the right decision," Andy says back to him. "But I understand the need to get away." Scene Six - The Park Adam walks through the park trying to clear his head after his run in with Dawn earlier. He, like his daughter, hopes that it's not too late to make his marriage to Helen work but he also realizes that the fact that Helen has filed for divorce is not a good sign. He doesn't know what it will take to get through to Helen now that she has decided to file for divorce because she is already dating again. He just hates that his marriage has got to this point. He always believed that after everything he and Helen have been through that they would end up together. "I just wish I knew how to make her realize that we still have a chance at happiness," he whispers to himself. "This doesn't have to be the end of us." As he walks, he spots his wife sitting on a bench looking out at the river. He looks at her for a moment and admires her beauty for a moment. He can understand why Chris is interested in his wife, but it drives him crazy because he should be the only one that gets to tell Helen how beautiful she really is. He takes a deep breath and moves closer to the bench where Helen is sitting. "Hey," he says causing Helen to snap out of her trail of thought as she looks up at her husband. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything." "I was just thinking," she replies to him as he moves closer to the bench. "I was doing the same thing," he admits to her. "I wanted to apologize for my behaviour last night," he tells her. "I didn't mean to confront you with so much anger. And I certainly didn't mean to embarrass you in front of Chris." Helen shakes her head. "No, I should apologize. You are right, I did agree to speak to you about our marriage and then I filed for divorce." "What caused you to change your mind?" he asks herm scared he already knows the answer. "Honestly, I don't know. I have been growing closer to Chris," she reveals to him. "I know you don't want to hear that but it is the truth. And, I'm enjoying my time with him. Between that and just feeling like we have been so far apart for so long " "You felt like it was natural," he finishes her sentence. "I can't say that I'm happy about this. Dawn doesn't want us to divorce either, I just saw her at the coffeehouse." "I know how Dawn feels," Helen tells him as she moves a piece of hair behind her ear. "But she's a grown woman now. She can learn to adjust, can't she?" "Is there anything more I can do? Is there anything I can say?" "I don't know," Helen tells him as a tear falls down her cheek. She quickly wipes it away. "We've been through so much together." "I know Helen," Adam says back to her. "That's why I'm fighting so hard for us, for our marriage." From the trail in the park, Max walks along as he is heading to the Sugarbowl to meet Dawn. He looks up and notices Adam and Helen talking. He stops dead in his tracks when he sees the two of them. He shakes his head thinking he is seeing something. It has been so long, it doesn't make sense that this could be real, not after all this time. "It can't be," he whispers to himself. "It just can't be!" He picks up his pace as he walks past the bench and quickly moves closer to the coffeehouse, feeling his heart race a million times a minute, trying not to be seen by Adam and Helen. Scene Seven - The Sugarbowl Paige moves to the back booth where Dawn is and quickly sits down across from her friend. She can tell that Dawn is eager to hear the latest with her since the last time they were together, Dawn had left her with a sex toy to use so when she goes for her medical exam it will appear that she isn't a virgin anymore. The more Paige thinks about this, though, she wonders if she's doing the right thing. She knows that Shane is still in jail, awaiting trial for something he didn't do. "You're quiet," Dawn tells her friend, trying to study Paige's face to see if she can read what her friend is thinking or feeling. "is everything okay?" "What do you think?" Paige snaps at her. "Sorry, I shouldn't have snapped at you. It's just, this entire thing is crazy. I don't know how much more of this I can handle." "You're almost finished though," Dawn tells her, trying to be supportive. "I mean, you still have your exam and then you'll have to testify but as long as you say that you wanted to be with Shane, the Judge will be on your side. You know, that right? Then you and Shane can be together. Isn't that what you want? This is just a bump in the road." Paige moves a piece of hair behind her ear. "I don't know," she admits to her. "I mean, yes, it is what I want. It just seems like a lot to go through just to get a guy." "Not just any guy," Dawn continues to pressure her. "A doctor. A sexy, hot doctor. Did you use the " Paige shushes her friend before she can finish her sentence. "Yes, I did," she admits as her face turns red. Dawn gets a huge smile on her face. "See, you're on board. Just stay calm and everything will work out. You'll see!" Paige uneasily smiles back to her. "I hope you're right." Scene Eight - The Calimo Mansion "Are you going to answer me?" Kim asks Bob again. "How long have you had your memory back?" Bob sighs and looks back at his wife. "You know that I am about to go to Pennsylvania to check in to their rehab centre," he begins to tell her, hoping to dodge the question she asked him. "I know," Kim snaps back at him. "But that's not what I am asking you. Answer me, Goddamnit! " "It happened after my second stroke," he reveals to her, realizing how frustrated she really is. "I got my memory back. I didn't tell you, or anyone, because I thought if we were together we could make our marriage work. I realized how much I wanted that, and I know that you do too. I did this for us, Kimberly." Kim shakes her head as tears fall from her eyes. "You've been lying to me! All these months, I've been so worried about you and this is what you do to me? It's always more lies and deception, isn't it?" "Darling, if you would just let me explain!" "No Bob!" she yells at him. "I'm so tired of all of this. I have to go. I need to be alone right now!" "Please don't go, not when you're this upset," Bob tries to tell her as he comes up to her and puts his hand on her arm. "Get your lying hands off me!" she yells at him, as she pushes him away. "I need to be alone. I don't know if I will ever be able to forgive you. Not this time! Next on One Day
