City & Colour Previously
on One Day at a Time Scene One - Cassie's Office "I can't believe that you're back in town after everything you did to me, to all of us," Natasha tells Cassie as she stands face to face in front of the woman who tormented her for so many years. Natasha knew that after Shane told her that Cassie was back in town that she would have to come see her to ensure that Cassie knows that she won't tolerate any of her schemes this time. "And, look, you're old face is back. That's a refreshing change of pace." Cassie smirks back at her rival. "I'm a changed woman Natasha," she tells her as she folds her arms across her chest. "As soon as I left town, I gave birth to my beautiful son and then I had surgery to go back to myself. I knew that I had to change. I couldn't keep living the life I was living." "You mean the life of Helen Black?" Natasha quips at her. "You stole her face and held us hostage in the basement of your house! Do you think that anyone has forgotten the hell you put us through?" "I don't think anyone should forget what they've been through in this life," Cassie continues to keep her cool. "The past is makes us who we are today." "Cut the psycho babble with me," Natasha tells her. "You're not fooling me with this game you're playing but just know that I'm watching you. I won't let you ruin lives again." "Are you about finished?" Cassie asks her. "Because, I have to get ready for my next patient." "My husband?" Natasha asks her, knowing that Shane has his first therapy session later on. "You stay away from Shane." Cassie giggles back to her. "That's difficult, considering the court appointed me his therapist. But don't worry, Natasha, we won't spend the entire hour talking about you. Now, kindly show yourself out." Natasha fumes knowing that she already tried to have Cassie removed but the Judge claimed that she would stay on as the therapist. "I'm watching you," Natasha warns Cassie as she rolls her eyes back at her rival. Natasha turns around and walks out of the office, not wanting to fight with Cassie anymore. Outside, she stops and takes a deep breath. "You won't hurt anyone I love, not ever again." Scene Two - The Calimo Mansion "It's nice that the hospital will be transporting Bob home today," Andy tells his sister as they sit in the living room of the mansion. "Do you know what time you should expect him?" "Any time now," Kim replies to him as she passes him a cup of coffee. "Thanks for being here with me. I know I'll need some help with him." "I'm glad I could help," he says back to her. "I'd like to know what's going on with you. I can tell that something is eating you up inside." Kim sighs and looks at her brother as she takes a drink of her coffee. She knows that while she and Bob have reunited and he has forgiven her for sleeping with Robbie, she didn't always believe that would happen. And, in a moment of stupidity, she sent Tyler the formula for the facial cream that Roboto was close to releasing. Of course, this means that Robertson Enterprises could actually beat Roboto to the punch by releasing the facial cream first. If that happens, she knows that Bob will be livid. And, it's all her fault. "Bob and I agreed that would make our marriage work," she tells her brother finally, trying not to tell him the truth. The fewer people who know this secret, the better, she thinks to herself. "Isn't that a good thing?" She nods back to him. "I guess I'm just worried that something will tear us apart. We can never seem to get it right." Andy moves over to his sister and grabs her hand. "I have faith in you. The fact that you and Bob have overcome all of these obstacles and are still together and in love has to stand for something, doesn't it?" Kim smiles at him. "You're right," she tells him. "Thanks for always knowing the right thing to say." "Of course," he winks back at her. "As long as your honest, nothing will come between you and Bob. Now, let's go get your husband in the house. He should be here anytime." Scene Three - The Pampa Grill "I just can't believe that your son is back and that you've met him," Robin tells Adam as they sit in the restaurant together after Adam just finished telling her that Max is in his life. "How are you feeling about this?" Adam sighs as he looks back at Robin. On one hand, he's thrilled that Max is in his life and he could have the chance to get to know his son but on the other hand, he knows that Cassie is back now and Dawn was rather upset to learn that she had a brother, especially since she has been friends with Max for a few years and knew nothing about the connection. He wanted to go after Dawn, but Max offered to talk to her instead and Adam believed that he would have better luck than he would. "It's a learning curve, that's for sure," he tells her, being honest with his friend. "Dawn found out and she wasn't very happy." "You and Helen never told her about the child you had with Cassie?" Robin asks him. He shakes his head no quickly. "How do you bring that up in conversation? Especially since there was no way of knowing that Cassie would ever come back into our lives." "That's fair," Robin replies to him. "Just know that Dawn will come around, this is a shock but she's a smart kid and she and Max already get along, so it's not like they can't be siblings now." Adam smiles back to her. "Thanks for that," he tells her. "I guess I needed to hear that there is something positive about this situation." "There's almost always some kind of silver lining," she replies to him as she purses her lips together. "Have I mentioned that I'm glad we've become such good friends?" he asks her. "I've really grown to accustomed to leaning on you." "Well, that goes both ways," she continues to smile back to him. From the entry way of the restaurant, Helen watches her ex-husband and Robin sit and talk. She isn't sure why, but she feels very unsettled in her stomach seeing Adam with another woman, even though she has already moved on with Chris Michaels. She had come into the Pampa Grill looking for a drink, but she finds herself turning around without having anything at all. Scene Four - The Park "I'm glad I finally found you," Max tells Dawn as he approaches the park bench where she is sitting. "I've been texting you for hours." Dawn looks over at her brother, which still sounds crazy to her. She has been friends with Max for a few years now and never imagined that they were actually related. It's a shocking piece of information to take in because she never expected that she would have a brother, yet alone someone she believed to be her close friend. "And, you didn't take that as a hint that I didn't want to talk?" she asks him, meaning to sound cold. Max was with Adam when she learned the truth, which means he knew before she did. "Dawn, come on," Max replies to her as he sits on the bench next to her. "We've become such good friends. It just happens that you're also my sister." "When did you find out?" she asks him. "How long have you know that Adam was your father too?" Max sighs. "My mother never kept the truth from me," he begins to reply to her. "But she didn't tell me that he had another family. I only saw Adam here in town a couple of weeks ago. And then, you told me to reach out to my Dad the other night at the Sugarbowl and Adam came in. That's when I first went up to him." "So, you didn't know this entire time that we are family?" she asks him as she bites her lip. "Of course not," he tells her. "I could never keep something like that from you for so long. You're still my best friend, I wouldn't lie to you. You know me better than that." "I thought I did," she nods back to him. "I'm sorry, this is just a lot to take in." "I get it, I'm in the same boat. My best friend is also my sister," he manages to crack a smile to her. "I don't think that's so bad, do you?" She shakes her head as he pulls her into a hug. "No, I guess it doesn't." They exit their embrace and look at each other. "Although, we probably shouldn't mention how often we get high together. Dad might not like it," he winks back at her as she lets out a chuckle. Scene Five - Twin Peaks General Hospital "Why did you invite your mother to this appointment?" Cory asks Rebecca as they sit in the hospital waiting room, counting down the minutes before their doctor appointment begins. Cory doesn't understand why Rebecca would invite Melissa to the check up for their baby, when she knows that Cory isn't fond of her, and with good reason. Cory sighs as he wonders when he should tell Rebecca that he has sought Natasha's legal advice on obtaining a restraining order against Melissa, to keep her away from their baby. Rebecca looks up and Cory and knows that Melissa didn't give her a choice in the matter because Melissa needed to ensure that Cory continues to not go into the appointment with her because Caroline actually takes her place in the examination. Rebecca knew that she would have difficulty continuing to convince Cory not to come in with her again, which is why Melissa told her she would come today. "She's curious," Rebecca finally replies to him. "You know, this will be her first grandchild. And, I'm not trying to sound mean, but that's because you and Robin never let her in when Robin was pregnant, which is probably for the best considering how it ended up." "I can't believe you just said that," Cory replies to her quickly, knowing that his daughter with Robin was stillborn. "You know the hell that I went through, that Robin went through with our baby." "I know, I'm sorry," Rebecca quickly retracts. "I'm just saying, my Mom is excited." "And, I suppose this is where you tell me that you want her to go into the appointment with you and not me?" he asks her. Rebecca sighs and looks at him, knowing that her words are painful for him. "I'd hope you understand?" "Yea, fine," he waves his hand in the air, frustrated that she is still shutting him out again. "I'm just beginning to feel like I'm not even a part of this pregnancy at all." "Cory," she starts to say as Melissa comes into the waiting room. "No, have a good appointment. I'll be back in an hour or so to pick you up," he huffs before he walks off, leaving the women alone. Melissa watches Cory leave then looks back at his Rebecca, who is worried Cory is upset. If that happens, maybe their plan could still fail. "I see he took that well." *** "What do you mean you don't want to listen to me?" Robbie asks Victoria, as she just finished telling him that she doesn't want to hear what he has to say. He has come to apologize for everything that happened in recent months and that he wants to try to get back together with her. Victoria looks back at him and feels water rush to her eyes. "I've wanted us to work for so long Robbie," she tells him in a whisper. "And every time I thought we were getting there, something else would happen and it would drive us apart again." "That's all my fault," he replies to her. "That's why I'm here, I want to make amends." "How can you make amends for using Kim like that to get revenge on your father? Did you even think about how she'd feel or how I'd feel to learn you slept with her?" "That is exactly the problem," he interjects. "I wasn't thinking. I was so focused on this revenge scheme I had. See, I had it in my mind that if I hurt Bob, I would feel some sort of gratification with Leah's death. But that hasn't happened. The opposite has happened; I hurt my Dad, I hurt Kim and most of all, I hurt you. I'm so sorry. I'm so ashamed of myself. I was trying to make it right, but if you don't think we can, I understand. I've done a lot of shitty things and I understand that there are consequences to those actions." Victoria reaches for him as he starts to leave. "You're serious, aren't you?" she says as he nods his head. As a single tear falls down her cheek, she smiles. "I still love you, Robbie. And, if you're very serious, I want to make it work again. I want to be with you." He sits back down and leans in to give her a kiss. "I won't fuck this up. Not again, let's make it work for real this time." "That sounds perfect to me," she smiles back to him, as she wipes a tear and squeezes his hand. *** "Hey, I wasn't expecting to see you again today," Craig says as he comes up to the nurses station and he finds Donovan there. He recalls their date where they shared another steamy kiss, but is surprised to see him again so soon. "Is everything okay?" "Yea, I'm fine," Donovan replies to him with a sly grin on his face. "I just wanted to come by and let you know that I had a really good time at our date. I wanted to thank you for that and let you know that I'm looking forward to our next date." "Ah," Craig smiles back to him. "So there'll be another date?" "I'm hoping so," Donovan admits to him. "Unless, you don't want too?" Craig grabs Donovan's arm and pulls him closer. "I definitely want too." Donovan licks his lips before he leans in and kisses Craig, which surprises the doctor since he's been the one to always initiate the kiss. "Good, I'll plan the next one," he tells Craig as their lips part. Scene Six - The Pampa Grill "You seem to be in a really good mood," Trenyce tells Tyler as she picks up a glass of red wine and looks over at her lover as they sit in the restaurant. Tyler takes a sip of his beer before he nods back to her. He recalls how he met Kim at Wild Night and after they shared a moment, he confused that Robertson Enterprises is working on a facial cream but he was missing an ingredient to perfect it. To his surprise, she admitted that Roboto was also working on a cream but later that day, Kim sent him a text message with Roboto's formula. The team at Robertson is working overtime now to get the facial cream out before Roboto can. "I am in a good mood," Tyler admits to her. "You probably don't hear about a lot of products at Robertson Enterprises because you're in the fashion house, but I've come up with a facial cream and I think it will change the entire game of our company." "Those are pretty powerful words," Trenyce tells him. "Well, I have insider information that Roboto is also working on a facial cream," Tyler informs her. "But, I'm confident that Robertson Enterprises will beat them to the punch with the release of ours. Like I said, I think my Dad will be thrilled. This could do wonders for my career." "Well then," Trenyce says as she lifts her glass. "A toast to you and this facial cream." Scene Seven - The Calimo Mansion "Darling, I'm so glad that you're home and that you're healthy," Kim tells Bob as she ours him a brandy and passes it to him as he sits on the sofa after he was transported home from the hospital. "I was so worried that I was going to lose you." "You will never lose me," Bob replies to her as he grabs the brandy and takes a sip. "Ah, I've missed this good stuff." "I hope that I won't lose you," Kim bites her lower lip, knowing that she gave Tyler the formula to the facial cream. If Bob ever finds out about that, she isn't sure that he will forgive her. "Come sit with me," Bob tells his wife as she moves around and sits next to him. He puts his arm around her and looks into her eyes. "Now, we need not talk about losing one another, okay? Because, you're right here and I'm right here, we are together." She fights herself from getting tears in her eyes as her fears start to boil under her skin. "Hey," he says as he tilts her head up. "We are together Kimberly. Nothing can change that." She nods back to him before she leans in and kisses him on the lips. "I've missed you," she admits as their lips part. He puts both hands on her face and pulls her into another kiss. "Let me know show you how much I've missed you," he whispers as he starts to unbutton her blouse, and she starts to moan a little as he kisses her neck. Scene Eight - The Black House; Helen & Barbara's Home Helen doesn't often drink but she finds herself opening a bottle of red wine and pouring herself a very fill glass. She takes a sip as she thinks about Cassie being back in town and what that means for her future; the last time Cassie was in Twin Peaks, she had plastic surgery to look like Helen so she could hold her hostage and take over her life. That's how Adam ended up with a son; he mistook Cassie for Helen and they made love. Helen gets a shudder down her spine before she takes another sip of her wine. She moves into the living room with her glass, trying to find her phone so she can send a note to Chris; she'd love to see him tonight to take some of her edge off. She is startled when she hears the front door open as she isn't expecting anyone. She knows that Barbara is upstairs sleeping, so who could possibly coming into the house. She finds herself picking up a large vase and moves closer towards the entry to the foyer. "Mom, what are you doing?" Dawn asks as she sees Helen with the large vase. Helen breathes a sigh of relief at the sight of her daughter. "Oh, thank goodness it's you," Helen tells her as she puts the vase down. "Sorry, I'm just on edge knowing that Cassie Nova is back in town." "Cassie? My therapist? She seems really cool," Dawn tells Helen. "I know you've told me some stories but she seems really cool to me." "That's exactly what she wants you think," Helen informs her. "You can't trust her, Dawn. Anyways, what are you doing here? I wasn't expecting you." "I know," Dawn rolls her eyes. "But, the court they ordered me to move home. They found out that I was staying with Cassie and Max and they said it was a conflict to be living with my therapist. They said if I didn't come home I would have to go to a foster home." "So you're home?" Helen asks her, unable to hide her excitement. "I'm home," Dawn replies to her as Helen comes up and hugs her. "I'm so happy, and I know Barbara will be thrilled too," she tells her daughter. "Now, how are you feeling about this Max reveal?" "We talked earlier," Dawn reveals to her mom. "It's an adjustment and I hate that Dad had another affair with Max's mom but it could be worse. Max is a good guy." Helen uneasily nods. "Don't get too comfortable with the idea." Dawn arches her eyebrow. "Why would you say that?" "Because, we have no idea if it's true." Scene Nine - The Pampa Grill "I just saw Cassie Nova," Natasha tells Adam as she comes up to his table in the Pampa Grill. "Did you know she was back?" Adam looks up at his ex and nods back to her. "Only because I met my son, Max," he reveals to her. Natasha sits across from him and shakes her head in disbelief. "So, you have a son with her?" she asks him as he nods, stunned. "I can't believe that after all this time she's back. I warned her about ruining our lives again." "Do you think she wants to do that?" Adam asks her. "It seems like she's turned her life around, being a therapist and all." "I can't trust her," Natasha replies to him quickly. "After everything that woman has done to me, I will never trust her, and I think you'd be wise to do the same." "Which leads the question Helen has been asking me," Adam replies to her. "Is Max really my son?" Scene Ten - Cassie's Office Cassie takes a deep breath as she sits at her desk, trying to calm herself down after Natasha's visit. "She has no idea what she is talking about," she whispers to herself. "I have changed. My son has changed my life. My career has changed my life. I'm a new woman. I'm not hung up on the past anymore." She stands up and moves over to her window and looks outside, admiring the beautiful summer day. "I won't let Natasha Calimo ruin this for me," she continues to tell herself. She suddenly hears a knock on her office door. She moves over to the door and opens it. "Shane," she says as he looks at his ex-wife. "Hi," he replies to her, looking at her closely. "I'm here for my appointment." "Right, yes, of course," she manages to say, caught off guard by how handsome he still is. "Come in, we'll get started." Next
