on One Day at a Time Scene One - Cassie's Office "You left the house early this morning," Max tells Cassie as they sit on the sofa in her office, enjoying a coffee and muffin from the Sugarbowl. "I know, I'm sorry," Cassie tells her son. "I had an early appointment here. You just missed my patient." "That would have been awkward," he smiles back to her. "Dawn got all of her stuff last night. She's officially moved out of our apartment." Cassie nods back to him, knowing that after she was appointed to be Dawn's court-ordered therapist, Dawn would have to move out of their apartment because it would become a conflict of interest. And, after having her first session with Dawn a few days earlier, Cassie is pleased that she went back home. This could be the start of Dawn and her family starting to heal. "It was fun while it lasted," she replies to her son. "And, this way, she can make real progress with Adam and Helen. She already had a good therapy session." Max rolls his eyes. "Well, that's just great." "Hey, what's with the attitude?" Cassie asks her son, not liking how he is speaking to her. "I had to go have a DNA test to prove that I'm Adam's son," Max admits to her. "Can you believe that? My word isn't good enough for him." Cassie sighs and looks back at her son. She knows that this happened because no one in Twin Peaks trusts her and they all believed that she was lying about Max being Adam's son, so she feels like her son's mood is all her fault. "I am so sorry you had to go through that," she tells him. "This is all my fault." "How is it your fault?" Max asks her, not understanding what she is saying. "Adam is the one who did this to me, not you." "I know," Cassie replies to him. "But it's because of what I did in my past, Max. You see, when I was younger, I did something less than desirable things to many people, Adam included. They are just taking their frustrations about me out on you. And, that's not fair." "It just felt like a violation," Max admits to her, as he thinks about the DNA test. "But it's over now, right?" Cassie asks him. "And, the truth is out. So, I'm now things can start to change." "Change? How do you think things can change?" Cassie sighs and looks back at her son, who is showing his stubborn side. "I want you and Adam to have a relationship, is that so bad? He's your father and always will be." Max shakes his head. "He doesn't even care," he spits. "He had no idea who I was." "We can't hold on to this anger," Cassie tells him, trying to get through to him. "You can't be my therapist," Max winks back to her. "You're my mom, just be that, okay?" Cassie chuckles back to him. "Just promise me that you won't shut the door on Adam entirely, okay?" Scene Two - Twin Peaks Police Department; Robbie's Office "We need to talk," Natasha announces to her brother as she opens the door to his office and sees Robbie sitting at his desk, looking over some papers. Robbie looks up from his work load and sees his sister. "Well, hello to you too," he smirks back to her. "You're lucky I'm not in the middle of something, I have a few minutes right now. Close the door and let me know what's going on." Natasha closes the door and moves closer to his desk. "I won't beat around the bush," she tells him in a stern voice. "Cassie Nova is back in town." "What? My God," Robbie whispers back to her as he leans back in his chair, shocked that the woman that held his sister hostage is back in town. "Does Helen know? We don't want another kidnapping to happen." Natasha waves her hand in the air. "That won't happen," she tells him. "Cassie had surgery to look like her old self. Helen knows that Cassie is back, however." "I wonder why she's back after all this time," Robbie admits to her. "I don't care what her reasons are," Natasha quickly replies to him. "I'm here because I want you to arrest her. I want Cassie Nova to be put behind bars." Robbie sighs and shakes his head. "I can't do that, Natasha," he admits to her. "She's been away too long. The limit of statutory would have expired." "Are you kidding me right now?" Natasha is shocked by Robbie's response. "That woman drugged me and Helen, held us hostage for months and there's not a damn thing you can do? I don't like this Robbie!" "I get it, okay?" Robbie tells her as he stands up and moves over to his sister and pulls her into a hug. "The important thing right now is that you stay calm. I can watch Cassie closely but until she does something illegal, my hands are tied." Natasha exits the embrace with her sister. "I don't know how to stay calm when that woman is back in my life," she admits to him. "Something has to be done. I won't let her ruin my life again. I just won't!" Scene Three - The Victors Mansion; Vinny, Daisy & Jemma's Home "Paige, is everything okay?" Jeff asks his daughter as he comes into the foyer, with Meggan closely following him behind. They were in the living room with Daisy and Vinny planning their double wedding in Santa Barbara when the doorbell rang. Jeff immediately heard Paige's voice and came to see what she is doing at the mansion. "No, it's not okay," Paige reveals to Jeff, knowing that she has to say something to her father. She just hopes that by speaking her truth, Jeff may see the light and not want to marry Meggan. In Paige's mind, she is doing everything she possibly can to save her family. "You're marrying this woman! And, I hate it! I absolutely hate it!" "Okay," Jeff quickly replies to her. "I think we need to go have a talk privately." "You can use the study upstairs," Daisy replies to them. "Please, take all the time you need." As Jeff and Paige go upstairs, Daisy looks at Meggan and puts her hand on her shoulder. "Are you okay?" Meggan shakes her head as tears fill her eyes. "I don't know. I just hope Jeff can get through to her. She's still hurting from Leah's death." "She may never get over the death of her mother," Daisy replies to her. "That's what I'm afraid of," Meggan admits to her as they start to move back into the living room. *** Jeff opens the door to the study and lets Paige go inside first. He closes the door behind himself once he has entered it as well. "Now, you're going to listen to me young lady," he says in a stern voice. "You can't show up at someone's house and announce that you hate people. It's not how we behave, do you understand me?" Paige turns around and feels her cheeks flush. "I'm sorry if I made a scene downstairs, but you have to realize that by marrying Meggan, you are making a huge mistake." Jeff sighs and moves closer to his daughter. "Paige, I love her and I want to spend the rest of my life with her. I know that it's a hard pill to swallow but I am moving on with my life. I can't mourn your mother forever." "I'm not asking you to mourn her forever," Paige replies quickly to him. "I'm asking you to not marry that woman!" "I am going to marry Meggan," he tells her. "So, you better get used to that idea, okay? We have to start moving on from what happened." Paige shakes her head as she feels the blood boil inside of her. "I will never get over what happened to my mother, don't you understand that? I will never forget her and I will never get over the fact that she was taken from me too early! So, you better get used to that idea!" Scene Four - The Sugarbowl "It's nice to see you moving around again," Donovan tells Victoria as they sit in the back booth, having an iced coffee together. Donovan knows that this is his sister's first time out of the condo since she was released from the hospital following her minor knee surgery that she had to have after her car accident. Victoria smirks back to him. "Thanks Donovan," she says to her brother. "It's nice to be out again. But you sound like just Robbie with the concern, I'm fine. My knee is a little sore still but I will make a full recovery." "I'm just grateful that you weren't seriously hurt in the car accident," Donovan admits to her. "You know, a lot of positive things have come from the car accident." Donovan arches his eyebrow. "You mentioned Robbie," he tells her. "Does that mean you two have mended fences?" Victoria smirks as she flashes her large diamond ring to her brother. "He proposed and I accepted," she smiles to him. He sighs and looks at the ring, which is obviously impressive. Still, he knows everything that has happened between them since Leah died. "You're not saying anything," Victoria notes that he is still quiet. "You're happy for me, aren't you Donovan?" Donovan nods back to her and forces himself to put a smile on his face. "Of course I am," he replies to her. "I'm just worried about you." "You don't have to be worried about me," she tells him. "Robbie apologized for his behaviour since Leah died. I really think that he meant it. I think he wants to move forward with his life." "I hope you're right," Donovan says back to her. "Just be careful, okay? I don't want you to get hurt again." *** "I'm beginning to think that you're stalking me," Robin tells Cory as he comes up to her as she sits at the window bar seat. She knows that the last few times she has seen her estranged husband, she has made it clear that she doesn't want to see him. She can't get over the fact that he, not only slept with Rebecca, but got her pregnant. In her mind, there's nothing left for them to discuss regarding their relationship. Cory shakes his head back to her. "I know you don't want to see me," he admits to her. "I'm just trying to figure out what is going on. I still don't think that something is adding up." "Are you talking about Melissa going into Rebecca's doctor appointment?" she asks him, recalling how he mentioned this at the Pampa Grill a couple of days earlier as he nods back to her. "Well, why don't you ask Rebecca? I'm sure she'll give you a straight answer." Cory uneasily nods back to him. "Yea, I'm sure she will." "What else is going on?" she asks him, clearly seeing that something else is going on with him. "I don't want to drag you into it," he admits to her. "But you're right, I should ask Rebecca." "Stop being so dramatic and tell me what you're thinking," she snaps at him. "Fine," he tells her. "After everything that Melissa has done to us, to me, I've seen Natasha about getting a restraining order against Melissa." "What?" Robin asks in shock. "She won't be able to come near my baby," Cory reveals to her. "I don't want her anywhere near my child." Robin's eyes open in surprise. "You know that she is the baby's Grandmother. She's going to want to be in the baby's life." "She should have thought about that before she put us through hell," Cory tells her. Robin shakes her head. "I know my mom has done a lot of shitty things Cory," Robin replies to him. "But keeping her from her first grandchild is just cruel." "I thought you'd understand," Cory quickly says back to her. "I don't think anyone will understand what you're doing," she tells him as she stands up from her chair. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a busy day planned." Cory watches his wife leave the coffeehouse and he wonders if he has done the right thing with Melissa. He shakes his head. "No, I am right," he whispers to himself. "She has done enough damage to me. I have to protect my child. I will protect my baby." Scene Five - The Park As Dawn jogs down the pathway in the park, she tries to clear her head of everything that has happened in the last few weeks. She's moved back at home after the court told her that she couldn't stay with Cassie and Max any longer. So far, she hasn't found it to be a problem, mostly because Helen has been assisting Adam with the reveal that Max is actually his son with Cassie. What Dawn is still adjusting to, is the fact that she has a brother. Granted, her and Max have been close friends for a few years now, but she never expected this development. She also wonders how Max is holding up since he had a DNA test to prove that he is Adam's son and he wasn't very keen on the idea. As she jogs by a bench, she turns her head and notices Max sitting looking out at the river. She moves over to the bench. "Hey," she says, taking her head phones out of her ears. "Hey," he replies, looking up at his new found sister. "How's your run?" Dawn shrugs and sits on the bench next to him. "I'm glad I'm getting it in early," she tells him. "It's supposed to be hot today." "Yea, I heard that too," he admits to her. "Look, I'm sorry I ran out of the hospital the other day. It was just awkward having to go through the whole DNA test thing to prove that I'm not a liar." Dawn smirks. "I don't think anyone thought you were lying," she tells him. "There's a sorted history with Dad and your Mom, that's all." "That's basically what my Mom told me this morning too," he reveals to her. "Look, I also want to apologize to you." Dawn arches her eyebrow. "For what? You haven't done anything wrong." "Well," he starts to tell her. "I knew what my Dad looked like. I should have told you that earlier. This so-called secret could have come out way earlier." "That's not your fault," Dawn tells him. "Max, you had no idea that we shared a father. I am really coming around to the idea of you being my brother though." "Yea?" he asks her with a smile. "Yea," she winks back to him. "I think only good things will come from this." "I hope so," Max says back to her. "I really hope so." Scene Six - The Pampa Grill Natasha moves into the restaurant quickly, her blood still boiling from the news that Robbie isn't able to arrest Cassie for everything that she did all those years ago. In Natasha's mind, Cassie never really paid for anything that she did, and that's not right. "I need a drink," Natasha whispers to herself as she moves inside to find a table. As she looks for a table, she happens to see Shane sitting in a booth by himself. She quickly moves up to her husband's table. "Shane, hi." "Hey, Nat," he says looking up at her. "I hope you don't want to join me, I'm just on my way to the hospital." "I'll make this quick," she replies to him as she sits next to him. "I just went to Robbie and asked him to arrest Cassie." "You did what?" a shocked Shane asks her. "You know that I have to see her for my therapy, right?" "Can't they find you another therapist?" Natasha asks him back. "But that's not the point," she continues to tell him. "Robbie can't arrest her because it's been too long. Can you believe that?" "I don't know what you want me to say," he admits to her. "Shane, we have to stick together right now," Natasha replies to him. "We have to make sure she doesn't ruin our lives again! Why am I the only one concerned about this?" "Because maybe you are," Shane tells her as he stands up at the table. "Look, I've had therapy with her and she seems to have changed. I'm not saying that it's not weird to have her back in town because it is, but Natasha, you're on your own with this. Cassie being back in town doesn't change our relationship. I still want a divorce. I don't want to be married to you anymore." Natasha feels her eyes swell with water. "Shane," she starts to call out to him. "I have to get to the hospital," he reminds her. "You have a good day." And just like that, Shane walks off leaving Natasha alone at the table. A tear falls down her cheek as she wonders how she got herself into this mess with her marriage. Scene Seven - Cassie's Office Cassie organizes some note pads on her desk before she looks at the clock. She knows that she is expecting another patient in a few minutes. She quickly stands up and looks out the window of her office, hoping that Max is coming to terms with the fact that everyone knows the truth about his paternity now. She also hopes that he will take her advice and reach out to Adam. "You've been apart far too long," she whispers to herself, thinking that her son needs his father in his life. "This could be the start of something great." Before she can say anything else, there's a knock on her office door. Cassie quickly moves to the door and opens it. "Adam," she says in surprise to see the father of her child. "I wasn't expecting to see you." Adam arches his eye brow and move inside the office. "Hello Cassie," he says back to her. "I think it's time we got something straight, don't you?" Next
