Previously on One Day at a Time
- Frederick turned friends and family against him as all of his schemes came to light and they all seemingly had a grudge against him

11:30 am

Frederick moves over to the paperweight that is on the floor because Andrew threw against the wall before he left the office. He can't help but fear what Andrew might do; the look in his eyes when he said he had anger to get out of him because he learned the truth about how Savannah died was something that Frederick had never seen before. It sent chills down his spine. He just hopes that the young man can deal with his anger in a positive manner.

He walks the paperweight back to his desk and shakes his head, thinking about his morning. Lukas, Donovan, Andy, Craig and Andrew all visiting him and almost all of them threatened in him some way. He just wonders how he got to this place; where so many people are mad and upset with him.

He is about to sit down at his desk when he hears another knock on his door. He turns around and sees Felicia standing at the entrance. "Felicia, this is a pleasant surprise," he smiles to the woman he loves. He is surprised to see her because he knows that she hasn't been very pleased with him since the truth about him brainwashing her came out and then the fact that he was keeping Leah in Santa Barbara. He was only keeping Leah there, however, because of her amnesia.

"I'm sure it is," she says coldly to him. "I needed to see you and it couldn't wait."

"You know you're always welcome here," he replies to her. "Despite everything, I care very much for you Felicia."

"Don't," she whispers back to him. "Don't you dare tell me you care about me!"

"I don't just care about you," he reveals to her. "I…I love you. I have for years. I have since I was treating you in the hospital in Switzerland. You have to have known this."

Felicia lets a tear fall down her cheek before she wipes it and looks at him. "How can you say you love me when you've done such horrible things to me?"

"I did all of those things because I love you, you have to realize that."

Felicia shakes her head. "No, don't you dare tell me you brainwashed me out of love for me! You did that because you were selfish. You wanted me for yourself and to hell with how I felt or how Dominick felt!"

Felicia moves closer to him. "And you know what?" she asks the doctor. "I could have possibly forgiven you for that but then I learned about Leah and what you did to my daughter is unforgivable."

"I saved her life," Frederick protests, trying to make Felicia understand. "Your daughter is alive right now because of me!"

"You watched all of us mourn Leah for years when you knew damn well she was alive! I … I can't believe you would do that, not only to me, but my Granddaughter! Do you know how devastated Paige is?"

"Because her mother can't remember her," Frederick continues to defend himself. "I saved Paige even more heartache than she is going through now!"

"You created more pain!" Felicia screams at him as suddenly her hands start to shake.

"Hey, calm down," he says coming up to her.

"Don't you touch me," she screams back to him as she pushes him away.

"Breathe, Felicia, breathe," he keeps his calm as he notices her shaking hands. "Have you taken your medication today?"

She shakes her head no as tears stream down her face. "That's none of your business, not anymore!"

"Felicia, I'm worried about you," Frederick reveals to her. "You have to take your medication."

"Don't be worried about me," she says back to him as she tries to collect herself. "I could kill you for what you've done, so you should be worried about yourself."

"I don't like when you talk that way," he tells her.

"I don't care what you like," she says as she wipes her tears. "Because I can do whatever I want, I'm not your concern anymore."

12:00 pm

"Damn it," Frederick whispers to himself, still reeling from his visit from Felicia. He has longed hoped that he would be able to convince Felicia to find a way to forgive him, but since that hasn't happened, he doesn't know what his next move should or will be. He still loves her and he is determined to find a way to make her forgive him. "I have to do something to make you forgive me Felicia. You have to understand why I did what I did."

"She will never forgive you," Dominick announces to Frederick as he comes into the office. "You've made so many mistakes, Freddy. Mistakes that are unforgivable."

"What the hell do you want?" Frederick tells his rival as he grits his teeth. "I'm in no mood to deal with you today."

"Well, that's too bad, because I have something to say to you. And, you will listen to me."

"You and everyone else it seems," Frederick quips back to him. "Say your peace then get out."

"You're so caviller about everything," Dominick observes to him. "Despite everything you've done to so many people, you just don't seem to give a damn."

"I don't give a damn about anything you have to say," Frederick replies to him. "You're a ruthless son of a bitch!"

Dominick chuckles back to him. "You have a lot of nerve. You brainwashed my wife into believing she doesn't love me anymore; you held my daughter hostage at your house for over two years, and I'm the ruthless son of a bitch? Where do you get off?"

"You will never understand my motives, so why even try?" Frederick asks him. "You're so ignorant, you can only see things your way."

"You self-righteous bastard," Dominick whispers to him as he moves closer to Frederick. "You will not get away with hurting my wife and daughter the way you have."

"Your ex-wife," Frederick reminds him. "You're married to Eva now, or have you forgotten."

"You leave her out of this," Dominick sneers.

Frederick laughs. "You have no idea what secrets Eva is keeping from you, do you? Of course you don't, you're too busy looking over at Felicia to notice."

"You don't know what you're talking," Dominick grits his teeth.

"Don't I? Frederick smirks back to him. "Ask your wife about her secrets and see what she says."

"Leave me wife alone," Dominick says as he grabs Frederick by the collar. "You've done enough damage to my family, I will kill you if you go near Eva next. Do you hear me! I will kill you!"

Frederick manages to push Dominick off him. As he fixes his jacket, he glares back at Dominick. "Get out of my office," he sneers. "And never come back."

12:30 pm

Frederick pours himself another scotch as he tries to calm himself from his physical encounter with Dominick. He hates that man more than he can express; no one seems to push his buttons the way that Dominick can. He takes a drink of his scotch before he hears someone else knock at his door.

"Who is it now?" he asks in frustration before he turns around and sees Leah come into his office. "Oh, Leah, I wasn't expecting to see you today."

"I wasn't sure I was going to come," she tells him as she closes the door to his office. "But then I found myself getting in the car and driving over."

"I haven't seen you since we left Santa Barbara," he admits to her. "You're feeling okay?"

Leah nods back to him. "Robbie makes sure that I see my doctor on a regular basis," she reveals to him. "I'm on medication now."

"Very good," Frederick replies to her. "I'm glad that you're getting better."

"There's something that I don't understand," she admits to him. "Why would you keep me in Santa Barbara for so long? Why would you keep me from my family?"

Frederick takes a sip of his scotch before he looks back at her. "It's not that I wanted to keep you from your family," he reveals to her. "But you see, with your amnesia, I desperately wanted you to remember before I revealed you to them. I was trying to help."

She shakes her head. "That wasn't fair of you," she tells him. "That wasn't your decision to make. I lost so much time with my life, with my daughter."

"Can you remember your daughter?" he asks her.

A tear strolls down her cheek. "No," Leah whispers. "But if I have come back sooner, maybe my memory would already be back. Maybe I would know who she is! Maybe I wouldn't see that hurt in her eyes all the time."

"These are situations that we cannot go back and undo. We will never know what could have or would have happened if you had come back sooner," Frederick tells her.

"But it wasn't your decision to make!" she yells at him. "Every time I see my daughter, I see the pain in her eyes and that's on you! Do you realize all the pain you've caused?"

"Leah, I'm sorry," he tries to tell her.

"No, you can't just apologize and expect all of this to go away!" she screams at him. "I just wish…"

"What do you wish?"

"I wish that you could feel the half the pain you've caused everyone," she tells him as she looks him in the eye. "Then maybe you'd realize what it feels like."

1:00 pm

"I don't know what is in the air today," Frederick mumbles to himself. "But everyone in town seems to be stopping by today giving it to me as this work is still sitting here."

He moves over to his desk, hoping to finally get some work done but he freezes when he hears someone else approach his door. He turns around and sees Paige standing at the entrance.

"I don't have an appointment or anything," she manages to say to him. "I hope its okay that I'm here."

"Of course," he replies to her. "What can I do for you young lady?"

Paige shakes her head, not sure what she is doing at the doctor's office. She just knows that she had to see him. She has to try to get some kind of information from him about Leah really being alive. "I don't know, honestly," she admits to him. "I guess, I'm just here because you're the one who had my Mom all those months that we believed she was dead."

Frederick sighs and looks back at her. "I know that you're mad that I kept her away," Frederick admits to her. "But, I see how upset you are now and that's what I was trying to prevent. I didn't want you to be sad because she doesn't remember you."

"I hate that she can't remember me," Paige says as she tries to hold her composure. "My Mom, I missed her so much and the fact that she has no idea who I am, it kills me."

"I'm so sorry Paige," he tells her as he comes up to her. "If there's anything I can do?"

"There's nothing you can do!" she yells at him. "Don't you understand? This is all your fault! If you had brought her back when you first realized she was alive, maybe she would have remembered me by now! If you had brought her back, none of us would have had to mourn her for two years! Do you know what that was like, mourning someone you love with all your heart?"

Frederick shakes his head, trying to apologize. "I was trying…"

"I don't care what you were trying to do! You failed at it! Okay? You're … you're a monster! I hate you for what you've done to my family!"

"Paige, please calm down," Frederick tries to tell her as he comes up her.

She reaches out and slaps him hard across the face. "Stay away from me!" she screams. "Just stay away from me and my family!"

1:30 pm

Frederick pours himself another scotch and takes another long drink of it before he lets out a sigh. He needed the drink after Paige's visit; he has never seen the young woman so distraught before. The look in her eyes really scared him, for some reason. He realizes that she is upset but he wishes that she wouldn't get so worked up.

He takes another drink before he sets his glass down before he turns and looks at the work, still sitting on his desk, waiting for him. "I don't know when I'm going to get all of that work done," he admits to himself. "I keep getting interrupted."

"Who are you talking to?" Meggan asks him as she comes into her father's office. "Never mind that, you and I, we have to talk."

"Meggan, darling," Frederick begins to say to his daughter. "I hope you're not still upset with me about Lukas."

Meggan chuckles a little back to her father. "Upset? That might be the understatement of the year," she replies to him. "You're damn right I'm still mad at you for how you're treating my brother. He deserves so much more than what you are giving him."

"That's neither here or now," Frederick tells her. "I have already been paid a visit by him today, and many of his friends telling me the same thing you are."

"Does that mean you've had a change of heart?"

"I have not," he tells her. "I stand by what I've been saying. No son of mine will be a homosexual, and that's final."

Meggan shakes her head in disgust at him. "This attitude of yours, that's exactly why I did what I did."

"What are you talking about? What did you do?"

"I told Chris and Trenyce the truth about our plan, rather your plan to be exact," she reveals to him. "You know, the one where you wanted you wanted me to send them on false leads when trying to find their biological child?"

Frederick looks back at her in absolute shock. "You didn't?"

"I did," Meggan tells him. "And you know what? It felt great telling the truth and being honest with them. That's what I want to do with my life, I want to be open and honest and not hurt people."

"I never meant to hurt anyone!"

"Bullshit! You purposely wanted to hurt Chris and Trenyce by sending them on that chase. You did that with intent. It's just like this Leah mess, you could have revealed her any time you wanted too, instead, you kept her away from us for years!"

"Why are you upset about Leah?" he asks her.

"I married her husband! You didn't think I had a right to know that she was alive?" Meggan asks him, her temper growing more and more heated.

"I didn't even think about that," he admits to his daughter. "Everything just happened so fast. It was a whirlwind for me to."

"Of course you didn't," she spits at him. "That's the problem. You haven't thought about anything but you own Goddamned agenda. Well, you know what, Dad? No more. I'm tired of you and all your crap."

"I don't like your tone, Meggan," he tells her. "You will stop this and treat me with respect!"

"You want respect? I'll show you respect."

"What does that mean?" he asks her, confused by what she is telling him.

"Lukas reminded me that we have a gun at home," she tells him as she looks him dead in the eye.

"Yes, the family gun, why are you bringing that up now?"

"Because," she whispers to him. "Maybe it needs to be used. Maybe you need to be reminded that you're only human and you're not God."

"Meggan…." He gasps as she moves to the door.

"Save it Dad," she snaps at him. "I'm over it. We all are all over you."
