Episode Theme song: "If This
Isn't Love" Jennifer Hudson
Scene One - Twin Peaks General Hospital Trenyce slowly opens the door to Jemma's hospital room and pauses as she looks at her great Aunt laying in the bed, still unconscious. Trenyce, despite the ice storm happening months ago now, still can't believe that Jemma is in a coma. She misses the sound of Jemma's voice and her advice, and right now, she could use her Aunt's advice and wisdom. She slowly moves up to the bed and sits next to Jemma as she sighs feeling her eyes swell with water. "This really doesn't seem fair," she whispers to Jemma. "I need you right now, more than ever, Jemma. I wish you could wake up." Trenyce looks up and doesn't see any change in Jemma's condition. "Chris and I, we are trying to find our child," she reveals to her. "We are taking your advice and trying to find our missing baby." She pauses again. "The truth is, though, that it's difficult for me," she continues to tell Jemma. "I haven't' said this out loud to anyone before, but, I realize that I have feelings for Chris. Hearing him talk about his relationship for Helen, it hurts me a lot. I know I have to get through this because finding my child is the most important thing, but I wish you were here so you could tell me what to do. You always gave me the best advice." Trenyce grabs Jemma's hand and squeezes it. "Jemma, I love you. Always know that I love you and I'm praying so much for you to make a full recovery." Scene Two - The State Penitentiary Meggan sits in the visitor's room waiting for Lukas to arrive. She called ahead to ensure that she could come and see her brother today, and was told that he asked her not to come. However, she couldn't stay away from him. She has to make sure that he is doing okay because she knows that he didn't kill their father, so the fact that he was still convicted is still difficult to accept. Plus, she also wants to know if there's anything she can do to try to get him out of jail. Soon, the side door opens and Lukas emerges with a guard behind him. He slowly moves into the room as Meggan stands up to greet him. She quickly hugs her brother. "I wish you hadn't come," he tells her as they exit their embrace. "I don't want you to see me like this." "I heard that you didn't want to see me," Meggan sits across from him. "But, I don't care. I had to see you. I couldn't stay away. You should know that nothing would keep me from coming here. How are you? And, don't lie to me. I can tell when you're lying to me." Lukas can't help but chuckle a little back to her. "I never could keep anything from you. I'm fine, I mean, as well as to be expected." "I haven't given up on trying to prove your innocence, but I need your help. Can you think of anything that could help us prove you didn't do this?" Lukas puts his head down. "I wish there was," he admits to her. "But, I don't know. I mean, if I knew of something that would get me out of here, I would have presented it to my lawyer before I got convicted. I just don't think there's anything I can do." "I refuse to believe that," Meggan tells him. "I refuse to let you spend the rest of your life here. I will help you get out of here. You have to believe me." Lukas nods back to her. "I'll try," he replies to her. "But, if you don't, it's okay. I'm trying to make peace with what's happened." "Oh Lukas," Meggan reaches over and grabs his hand. "Don't worry. You will get out of here. I promise you that." Scene Three - Robertson Enterprises; Donovan's Office Donovan sits at his desk looking over some of the latest sales figures from the facial cream in his office. While he likes what he sees, the facial cream is still a big hit, a part of him wonders if this is really important at a time like this. Between Blake dying and Lukas being in jail, he feels like there are much more important things to be focusing on right now. He sighs heavily as he drops the file down. "I still have a job to do," he tells himself. "I have to put all the personal stuff aside and focus on these reports. Dominick will still want them to be completed in a timely manner." His mind, however, is really on Lukas and his visit with him at the jail recently. He recalls how Lukas told him that some men approached him and made some comments about the fact that he is gay. Donovan has read horror stories about how inmates can treat gay inmates, so he is scared for Lukas' safety. He just hopes that nothing bad happens to him. In the meantime, he has to find a way to free his boyfriend from jail. He realizes that his life may, actually, depend on it. "Hey," a voice calls out at the doorway of his office. Donovan looks over and sees Craig standing there with a sly grin on his face. "Craig, hi, this is a surprise. What brings you buy?" "Yea, after our talk with Andy at the coffee house the other day, I thought I'd come and see you," Craig tells him as he moves into the office and closes the door behind him. "I know we said that we were worried about Lukas, but I think he will be in jail for some time. I don't think he will be freed." "Why would you say that?" Donovan asks him in surprise as he assumed he, and his friends, were all on the same page about Lukas needing to be free from jail. "You know that Lukas didn't kill Frederick." "I do know that," Craig replies to him quickly. "But the fact of the matter is, he was convicted. Unless some miraculous new evidence unexpectedly turns up, he will stay in jail. We might have to accept that." "I hope that something does come up," Donovan stands up from his desk and moves over to the filing cabinet. "Don't think that I don't want that too," Craig tells him, coming up to Donovan. "I'm just trying to be realistic." "Well, I can't give up hope," Donovan looks at him. Craig quickly leans in and kisses Donovan on the lips. The kiss lasts for a moment before Donovan breaks away, startled by Craig's kiss. "What are you doing?" "I still have feelings for you," Craig admits to him, looking at him with lust in his eyes. "Lukas might not get out of jail any time soon I guess I just thought maybe " "No," Donovan cuts him off. "I love Lukas, and that won't stop because he's in jail. I have to find a way to get him out. I have too." Craig uneasily nods back to him, embarrassed that he put himself out on the line again, only to be rejected by Donovan again. "Okay," he whispers back to him. "Sorry if I over stepped." *** Meawhile, in the studio, Max and Robin stand side by side looking over some of the latest print ads that they worked on together. Robin points to the bright red scarf in one of the pictures. "I like that pop of colour," she tells him. "It really stands out in the shot." "Yea, I thought so too," Max smiles to her, before he realizes how close she is standing to him. He feels his heart skip a beat as he tries to keep his calm. First they had a nice lunch together the other day, and now they are close to one another again; Max can't help but think that they are growing closer. This is something he has wanted for so long, the fact that it is happening, makes him very happy. "So, do you have any plans for dinner tonight?" he asks her, as he puts the pictures down, hoping that they can grow even closer. "I was supposed to see Adam," she replies to him quickly. "But, he couldn't make it. I guess, there's something going on with Dawn right now." Max nods back to her. "Yea, I'm sure you've heard. She's come out as a lesbian." "I did hear. How are you feeling about that?" "I'm cool," he replies to her. "I mean, Dawn and I were close before we knew we were brother and sister, you know? I just want her to be happy. If this makes her happy, then I'm all for it." "That's very sweet of you," Robin purses her lips together. "I told Adam the same thing. As long as Dawn is happy, that's all that matters." "I just hope she can find the happiness she deserves. I don't think Barbara took the news very well." Robin shrugs her shoulders. "I say, that's on Barbara. Dawn is the one who needs the support right now, not Barbara." Max chuckles back to her. "You're right," he winks back to her. "So, if you don't have dinner plans tonight, do you want to grab a bite?" Robin giggles back to him. "Well, after Adam said he couldn't have dinner, I did make other plans. I'm meeting my friend Cory." Max arches his eyebrow. "Who is Cory?" "My ex-husband," she tells him. "We have stayed friends. But, how about another time?" "Yea, I'd like that a lot," Max nods back to her, hoping that their dinner plans come to light sooner rather than later. Scene Four - The Tower's; Shelley's Condo "How are you doing? Have you calmed down yet?" Shelley asks Dawn as she moves into the living room holding two cups of tea. She knows that Dawn came back to the condo furious with Adam and Helen for agreeing to send her away to a bible camp, in hope of reforming her from being a lesbian. She can't believe that her parents would fall trap to Barbara's crazy way of thinking. She wishes that her parents would have stood up to Barbara when she first mentioned the idea to them because she thinks that this is the worst idea ever. She hates Barbara for not accepting her for who she is. Dawn turns around from looking out of the window. "No," she admits to her. "I can't believe what is happening. I mean, I knew my Grandma didn't take the news well, but wanting to send me to a bible camp? That's ridiculous!" "I couldn't agree more," Shelley passes her the tea. "And that your parents went along with it " "Don't get me started on that," Dawn replies to her quickly before taking a sip of the tea. "I'll tell you one thing though, I will never forgive them for this. If they can't accept me for whom I am, then they don't deserve to have me in their life." "Hey," Shelley tries to calm her down. "Let's not get too worked up, okay? I understand you're upset, but you will still be gay when you get back. Maybe let's think that you get a vacation this summer?" "How do you do that?" "Do what?" Shelley asks her. "Always find the positives in situations?" Dawn asks her back. Shelley shrugs her shoulders a little. "I've been through the ringer and back. There's no point in dwelling on what you can't control. You can only control yourself." "I don't want to go to this camp." "Out of your control," Shelley replies to her. "Your parents are sending you. You have to accept that. You might not like it, I don't blame you for that. But maybe, just try to make the most of it?" "I'll miss you," Dawn admits to her, as she puts the tea down and then grabs Shelley's hand. "I don't want to be away from you." "I'll be here when you get back," Shelley smiles to her before she leans in and kisses Dawn. "And, in the meantime, I can show you how much you mean to me?" Their lips part and Dawn looks back at her. "I'd like that," she smiles back to Shelley. "Lead the way." Scene Five - MW Investigations "Sorry I am late," Meggan rushes into her office and sees Trenyce and Chris sitting in the waiting room, as they have an appointment together for an update on their missing child. Chris and Trenyce stand up as Meggan comes into the room. "I went to see Lukas." "How is he?" Trenyce asks her, as they move towards Meggan's office. "As well as to be expected," she tells them, as they move into the office. "He didn't want to me to see him, but I had to go and visit him, you know? I'm still going to try to find a way to prove his innocence." "If we can help with anything " Chris tells her. "I know better than anyone what it's like to be arrested for something you didn't do." "Thank you," Meggan sits across from them. "Now, about your child, I know you wanted an update." "If there is one, we'd like to know what's happening every step of the way," Trenyce replies to her, still knowing that it might be a long shot to even find their child. "Well," Meggan replies to her. "I've asked the hospital if I can have access to the records on the day that Andrew was born. I want to see if there are any records of another child being brought into the hospital or any record of another child. That might be a long shot, but it's worth a shot." "So there really isn't any news?" Chris asks her. "Not yet, but I know you want to know every detail that's involved. So, that's it," Meggan tells them. "Don't worry, I'm not giving up. This just might take some time." Trenyce looks over at Chris, and feels her heart melt a little when she looks at him. "Well, this is better than nothing?" she says back to him before she looks at Meggan. "Thank you for the update." Scene Six - Twin Peaks General Hosptial Daisy opens the door to Jemma's hospital room ad moves inside. She knows that Vinny and Trenyce have slowly been telling her that she might have to accept the fact that Jemma won't wake up, but it is so hard for her to understand. In her mind, it doesn't seem fair that she just got her mother back and now, Jemma may never wake up again. She shakes her head as she moves closer to her mother's bed. Not only is she trying to come to terms with the fact that Jemma may never wake up, but she's trying to think about why Jemma's hair would have been found in Frederick's hospital room on New Year's Eve. When Daisy thinks back to New Year's, she recalls that Jemma was saying that she was sick with a flu bug and she was coped up in her hotel room. She wasn't out visiting anyone; she was resting up. Daisy sits next to Jemma and immediately grabs her hand. "I wish we could get answers," she whispers back to Jemma. "But the truth is, we may never know how or why your hair was in Frederick's hospital room. And, that is just fine. You were sick at the time. You were trying to get better." Daisy lets a tear fall down her cheek. "God, Mom," she continues to talk to Jemma. "I hate this so much. I hate that I wasted so much time being mad at you. I couldn't get my head around what I learned in Santa Barbara last summer. But the truth is, I love you so much. And, I would give anything to go back in time and make things right between us. Do you hear me? I love you and I forgive you for everything. Please, just wake up. Or give me a sign that this is really the end. Tell me what I should do." Daisy looks up and continues to look at Jemma, who remains still in her bed. Tears fall down Daisy's cheeks, realizing that Jemma may never come back to her. The reality is just setting in now. Scene Seven - Twin Peaks Executive Hotel "Thanks so much for letting me into her room," Vinny tells the hotel manager as they stand outside of Jemma's hotel room, as the manager unlocks the door. "I know that this isn't normal." "No, it's not," the manager replies to Vinny. "But, like I mentioned to you when you were here last time, I appreciate that you have been paying Ms. Davenport's bill while she's been hospitalized. And, I appreciate that she is in dire circumstances. I just hope whatever you get from the room will help her." "Thank you," Vinny says back to him, as the door opens. Vinny moves inside the room before looking back at the manager. "I won't stay too long." "Sure, take your time," he says as he closes the door. Vinny turns around and takes a deep breath as she sees Jemma's belongings scattered in the room. He doesn't know where to begin to look for whatever could be in the room, but something told him that he had to come into the room to see what was inside. It had been weighting on his mind for some time, and even more so after Simona revealed that they found Jemma's hair in Frederick's hospital room. "I owe it to everyone involved to look around a little," he whispers to himself, as he moves over to the end table and he picks up a picture of Jemma and Daisy. He drops the picture and it falls to the ground. He bends over to pick it up, and while he's kneeling, he sees something hidden under the bed. Vinny puts the picture back on the end table before moving over to the bed. He pulls out the black garbage back from under the bed and quickly opens it. "My God," he whispers in shock as he pulls out some black clothing from the bag. "What is this, Jemma? And, why are you hiding it under your bed?" Next
