on One Day at a Time Scene One - The Pampa Grill Max opens the door to the restaurant and quickly moves inside. He has some sweat forming on his forehead after rushing down off the second tier building that was created in the boutique for the photo shoot. He recalls being up there and seeing Adam on the ground level; he purposely caused some of the scaffolding to collapse, which crushed Adam to the ground. He never meant for so much scaffolding to fall on to his father; he only wanted to spook his Dad, however, he knows that Adam will have serious injuries as when he left, there was a large pool of blood coming out from under the debris. He just can't believe that he actually hurt his father; he never meant for it to go this far. He just wants to be with Robin so badly; he wishes that he couldn't have caused this accident. And now, he has no idea what he should do. Or if his father is alive. "I have to breathe," he says to himself, trying to calm his racing heart rate. "Everyone had left the boutique. No one will ever know that it was me. Everyone will assume that it was a freak accident. That's what I have to do. I have to tell everyone that I left right after Robin did." Before he can continue to think out loud, Robin comes up to him as she was waiting in the restaurant for Adam to arrive. She knows that they were supposed to have a romantic evening together, but Adam hasn't arrived yet, which is unlike him. "Max," Robin says as she approaches him. "You look pale, are you okay?" "Yea," he waves his hand in the air. "I should be fine. I think the excitement of the shoot just got to me, I'm exhausted. What are you doing here?" "I am supposed to meet your father here," she replies to him. "But he's late. It's not like him to be this late, I'm actually getting worried." "Oh," Max tells her back. "Yea, that is weird. He might have got caught up in traffic or something? Before I forget, you left this at the boutique. I saw it before I left," he passes Robin her IPhone, knowing that he deleted the text he sent Adam from her phone telling him to meet her at the boutique instead of the restaurant. "Great, thanks, I was wondering where that went," she tells him, as she looks at her phone and doesn't seen any new messages from Adam. "I'm going to call Adam, excuse me." "Yea, have fun tonight when he finally shows up," Max replies to her, as he continues to try to get his heart rate down. He just hopes that someone goes back to the boutique to find Adam before it's too late. He doesn't know what he will do if he has killed his father. "Stop thinking that way," he whispers to himself. "He'll be fine. God, let him be okay." Scene Two - Robertson Enterprises; The Boutique "So, you reviewed the campaign details and you liked what you saw from Max and Robin?" Jeff asks Leah, as they walk inside the boutique together having worked late. Jeff is rather surprised that Leah is back to work so quickly after her memory came back, but she insisted that working would be good for her. Of course, Dominick was more than happy to have her back in the office almost immediately. "I did," Leah nods back to him. "I think they make a great team, I mean look at this place. It's been transformed from a boutique to what looks like a very cool, older building in New York or something." "That's true, it does," Jeff agrees with her. "I just hope the pictures turn out okay." "Max hasn't disappointed us yet," she tells him, as she looks over her shoulder and notices a large pile of debris on the ground. "It looks like part of the set collapsed or something over there. Let's go check it out." They walk over to the pile of wood and metal beams on the floor and she screams when she sees a large pool of blood on the floor. "My God," Jeff yells out. "Someone is under there." "I'll call 9-1-1, you try to life some of these pieces of wood so we can see who it is," Leah tells him, as she tries to stay strong in the crisis. Jeff moves over and lifts to large boards off the crumpled body beneath it. "It's Adam Black," Jeff looks up at Leah, who is asking for an ambulance on her cell phone. "And, he's not breathing." Scene Three - The Sugarbowl "I was surprised to hear from you this evening," Paige admits to Andrew, as they sit next to one another at the window bar with latte's in front of them. "The last time I saw you, I wasn't exactly the nicest person to you." Andrew chuckles back to her as he recalls Paige being upset that he missed a date with her because he was breaking into Meggan's office trying to uncover information about her investigation into finding Chris and Trenyce's biological child; when he finally did meet up with her, she was livid that he had missed their date. "No, you weren't," he tells her. "But, I can understand why. It wasn't cool of me to keep you waiting when we had plans. I wanted to apologize to you." "I appreciate that and I accept your apology, but only on one condition," she purses her lips together. "And what would that be?" "That you forgive me for my behavior," she tells him. "I overreacted and I admit that." "We are cool," he smiles back to her. "Because, I forgive you too." "Good," Paige blushes back to him. "Because, I really like hanging out with you." "I do too," he replies to her. "I like it a lot." She blushes again as he leans into her and gives her a quick kiss on her lips. They part ways and she looks away before she looks back at him. "Too much?" he asks her. She shakes her head no. "Not at all," she tells him. "Long overdue, I think." "Yea, I was thinking that too." Scene Four - Twin Peaks General Hospital "Where is he? Where's Adam?" Helen nervously asks as she approaches Leah and Jeff in a waiting room, where they are pacing as they are eager to find out what has happened to Adam. Leah didn't know who else to call, so she called Helen knowing that she would be able to get a hold of Dawn to let her know about Adam. "He's being examined by the doctors now," Jeff replies to her. "We found him under some wood and metal beams at the boutique. The scaffolding must have collapsed on him." "My God," Helen whispers in horror. "Have you called anyone else? Does Robin know? I should call Dawn." "Just breathe," Leah tells her friend. "You can only do one thing at a time. The most important thing to do is try to stay calm. "You're right," Helen nods back to her as she takes a deep breath. "Okay, I'm going to call Dawn. Do you mind calling Robin?" "Of course not," Leah says back to her. "I'll call my sister now." *** Victoria slowly opens a door to a hospital room and she moves inside quickly, as she sees Dawn sitting on a bed and Shelley in a chair next to her. "Dawn, hi," Victoria smiles back to the young girl. "I was reading your chart but the nurse said you didn't want to discuss what this appointment was about due to privacy issues. Do you want us to be alone?" "No," Dawn quickly shakes her head back to the doctor. "I want Shelley here for as much of this as possible." "Okay," Victoria replies to her as she moves closer to the bed. "Well, now is the time you have to tell me why you're here. What can I do for you today?" A tear falls down Dawn's cheek as she looks over at Shelley and shakes her head. "I can't say it," Dawn struggles to say through her tears. "I'm sorry, but I can't do it." Shelley stands up and grabs Dawn's hand in the process. She looks back over at Victoria after Dawn nods to her. "Dawn was raped " Shelley reveals to Victoria, who looks back at Dawn in shock. "I convinced her to come to the hospital to get tested to ensure nothing more serious is wrong with her, physically of course." "I had no idea," Victoria sits on the edge of the bed where Dawn is laying. "I'm so sorry, Dawn. Of course, I can do a complete examination of you. I'll have to document that you were violated, however. And, if you'd like, I can recommend someone for you to talk to about this experience. You shouldn't keep all of this bottled up. I know this all sounds so...official, I just want you to know what I have to." "I just want to get this over with," Dawn replies to her. "The sooner the better. And, I don't want to see a shrink. The last thing I need is to rehash this over and over again." "Of course," Victoria tells her. "I understand now why you requested a female doctor. And, just so you know, I know what you're going through. This happened to me a long time ago as well." Dawn nods back to her. "Thank you for understanding," she says as another fear falls down her cheek. "Shelley, I will have to ask you to leave the room now," Victoria informs her. "Some of the tests I run, are pretty personal and I want Dawn to have the privacy." "Of course," Shelley replies to her, before she looks at Dawn. "I'll be right outside. I'll be right back by your side as soon as the examination is over." "Thanks Shelley," Dawn wipes her eyes dry, as she prepares for her tests. "Please comeback as soon as this is over?" Shelley moves to the door and exits, shooting Dawn one more smile before she leaves. Outside, Shelley sees Helen hanging up her phone and finds herself moving towards her. "Mrs. Black," Shelley says as she approaches Helen. "What are you doing here?" Helen looks back at her in surprise. "Do I know you?" "I'm really good friends with Dawn," Shelley reveals to her. "I'm glad that I found you." "Are you? Why is that? Do you know where Dawn is? I just tried calling her " "I know where your daughter is," Shelley replies to her quickly. "She's probably going to hate me for telling you this, but she needs all the support she can get." "Why does my daughter need support?" Helen asks her, getting more worried about how Shelley is talking in circles. "What's happened?" "Just stay calm," Shelley replies to her. "She Dawn was raped at the summer camp. She's pretty emotional right now. But, I convinced her to come to the hospital now to get looked at by a doctor." Helen feels the blood drain from her face as the words hit her like a ton of bricks. She can't believe that what Shelley just told her. Tears fill Helen's eyes as she covers her mouth in shock. As a single tear falls down her face, Helen looks back at Shelley, "I I don't know what to say," she admits to her. "My poor baby was violated like that?" she shakes her head wondering if this is all her fault. "My God, I shouldn't have sent here there! This is all my fault!" "No," Shelley firmly tells her. "This isn't about you anymore. You have to be strong for Dawn, she's going to need you, and Adam." Helen lets another tear fall down her cheek. "God, this is such a mess. Adam, Dawn's father," she looks back at Shelley. "He has been in an accident and he might not make it." Shelley moves up to Helen and finds herself giving her a hug as Helen weeps into her arms. *** "What happened? Where is Adam?" a panicked Robin asks Leah and Jeff as she rushes into the waiting room, having gotten the phone call from her sister about Adam's accident. She is still wearing her long evening gown as she was at the Pampa Grill still while she was waiting for Adam to join her. She can't believe that this is happening. "We don't know all the details yet," Leah tells her, coming up to her and giving her a hug. "We went to the boutique and part of the set of the building, the scaffolding, had collapsed. Adam was trapped under the debris." "My God," Robin gasps as she covers her mouth. "Why was he there? He was supposed to meet me at the Pampa Grill! We were supposed to have a romantic night together! How did this happen?" "I wish we had the answers," Jeff tells her. "We just have to wait until we hear how he is." "He has to be okay," Robin replies to them. "He just has to be Wait, has anyone called Max? He should know about his father." "No, I didn't think to call him," Leah admits to her. "It's fine, I'll call him now " Scene Five - Cassie's Office "Mom," Max says as he opens the door to Cassie's office and moves inside. "You're still here." "Yea, I had some work I needed to catch up on," Cassie stands up from her desk and moves to hug her son. As she approaches him, she can tell that something is wrong because he is pale and looks like he is going to be sick. "Are you okay? What's wrong?" Max shakes his head as he moves to the bar and pours himself a glass of water. "I guess " he says as he finishes his water. "I don't know Mom. Have you ever thought you were doing something good but it goes sideways and it turns into something really bad?" "Once or twice in my time," Cassie agrees with him. "What has happened, Max?" Max shakes his head as he bites his lower lip. "I don't want to talk about it," he admits to her. "I just fear that I've done something that I will live to regret." Before Cassie can reply, Max's cell phone starts to ring. He pulls it out of his pocket. "Hello Robin, slow down My God yes, I'll be right there." "What was that all about?" Cassie asks him, hearing a sense of urgency in her son's tone. "It's Adam," he looks back at her. "He's been in an accident. He's at the hospital." "Come on," Cassie pulls his towards her. "I'll drive." Scene Six - Robertson Enterprises; The Boutique Felicia slowly enters the boutique and looks around the space. She has never been at the boutique before, but something in her told her that she should come out to the place where Dominick is making so much money off the facial cream; the facial cream that killed her grandson. As she looks around, she can tell that there was some kind of event earlier in the evening. And, it obviously didn't turn out well as there is a police car out front. She ducks out of the way when a police officer moves towards the door. "Come on Lopez," he calls out to Simona, who is looking at the scaffolding on the ground. "Until we have reason to believe it was nothing more than an accident, then we don't have time to be here." "Now is the time for us to investigate," Simona replies to him. "But, yes, we'll go and see how Adam Black is. If we suspect foul play, we'll come back." Felicia waits for them to leave the boutique before she comes out of hiding and looks around the space. She can see on the wall large print ads featuring Robertson Enterprises products. Tears fill her eyes when she sees some shelves with the facial cream on it. She picks up a jar and throws it against the wall as she screams out. "Damn you Dominick!" she yells out in frustration as tears start to stream down her face. "How could you do this to our family? How could you kill our precious Blake?" She picks up another jar and throws it against the wall too. She picks up a third jar and is about to smash it, when her purse calls out of her other hand causing some of her pills to scatter all over the ground. "This is all your fault," she cries as she falls to the ground, trying to collect all of her belongings. Meanwhile, outside the boutique, Kim arrives dressed in all black. She waits until she sees the police car drive away before she peers inside the window. She doesn't see anyone left inside the boutique, so she steps back from the window and gets a grin on her face. "I told you, Dominick, that I would get revenge for killing my son," she whispers to herself, thinking about how she came up with the idea while she was at Natasha's wedding. "And, I'm here to do just that." Scene Seven - Twin Peaks General Hospital "We got here as soon as we could," Max announces as he and Cassie rush into the waiting room where Robin, Leah, Jeff and Helen are still anticipating the return of a doctor to let them know how Adam is doing. "How is my Dad?" "We haven't heard anything yet," Robin tells him as she comes up and hugs him. "Do you know why he was at the boutique? Did you see him before you left?" Before Max can reply, Craig comes into the waiting room. "Craig, how is Adam?" Helen asks him, causing Robin and Max to turn their attention to the doctor. "He's not good, I'm afraid," Craig informs them. "The scaffolding crushed much of his body. He has a lot of internal bleeding; we have to operate immediately to try to stop the bleeding or he won't make it." "Surgery?" Robin gasps back to him. "Is this really the best thing for him?" "Yes, we have to operate and stop the bleeding," Craig tells them. "He's being prepared for surgery now, I'll be back as soon as I can." "Craig wait," Max stops him. "Will my Dad die?" "Right now, there no guarantees," Craig replies to him quickly. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get to the OR." Max watches the doctor leave the room as he feels his heart move into this throat. If his Dad dies, Max thinks to himself, it will be his fault. He will have killed his father. Next on One
