Episode Theme song: "Pray"
Sam Smith Previously
on One Day at a Time Robertson Enterprises; Trenyce's Office Trenyce puts her pencil down on her desk, as she can't find the inspiration to finish the design that she is working on. She looks at the half-finished drawing and realizes that the problem is that her heart is still broken from finding out that Chris was leading her on. She really believed that she and Chris had put everything behind them and they were going to be united moving forward. She just hates that she was played by him again; she wishes she would have followed her head instead of her heart with him because she knew his history with women but it didn't stop her from falling in love with him again. "I brought you a coffee," Andrew announces as he opens the door to her office and moves inside. Trenyce looks over at him and smiles back to him. "That was sweet of you," she stands up to accept her coffee from him. "How did you know I needed more caffeine this morning?" "Lucky guess," he winks back to her. "Honestly, I just wanted to do something nice for you." "Well, I appreciate that," Trenyce smiles back to him. "I'm glad that you and I are in a good place again. I really hated those months that we were at odds together." "I know," Andrew agrees with her. "I feel dumb for believing Frederick's lies about how my mother died." "Don't feel bad," Trenyce tells him. "Frederick was an evil man; he brainwashed you and you were so young, you can't blame yourself." Andrew sighs and wishes he could take back drugging Chris and Helen last fall; he wasn't under Frederick's spell then, he still just had it out for Chris. But lately, he has really realized how much hurt he has caused, which has been causing him to feel guilty. He hates seeing Trenyce in this state of heartbreak. She might not say it outright, but he can see it on her face. And, now Paige has been snooping around the night in question, which means he is lying to his girlfriend, which he hates. "You got quiet all of a sudden," she notes to him, as he snaps out of his train of thought. "What are you thinking about?" Andrew shrugs a little. "I guess I just wish I could go back and do things differently. Maybe there wouldn't be so much pain going around." "We can't change the past," Trenyce tells him. "I know that better than anyone. We can only look to the future and try to be better people." "That seems deep," Andrew chuckles back to her. "Jemma told me that once," she reveals to him. "She was so wise, I try to remember all of the things she told me and apply them to my life." "You will get over this, you know," he moves closer to her. "The pain that you're in because of Chris, it will pass." Trenyce finds herself nodding back to him. "I hope you're right," she admits to him. The Sugarbowl Chris grabs his coffee, takes a sip of it and he immediately feels better about having the warm liquid heat him up. Spring is right around the corner, but it is still a chilly morning outside. As he turns around, he sees Helen walking into the coffeehouse. Chris immediately thinks back to the last time he saw his ex-girlfriend and he asked her if she could remember anything about the night they had sex and then Trenyce saw them together in the morning. "Morning Helen," he says as he walks up to her. "Hi, Chris," Helen replies to him. "How are you?" Chris shrugs his shoulders as Paige comes into the coffee house and sees them together. She casually walks around them, but tries to listen to what they are saying. Ever since she learned that they can't remember the night before Trenyce caught them together, she has been curious as to what could have really happened. "I'm struggling with this entire mess," Chris admits to her. "I know we can't remember, but I don't understand why we can't remember. It's driving me crazy." "I can see that," Helen nods back to him. "I don't know what I can do to help. I wish I did." "I know, me too," Chris replies to her. "Somehow, I have to get to the truth. There's more going on here, I can feel it." Paige arches her eyebrow wondering if Chris is right; is more going on here? And if so, how can the truth come out? *** In the back booth, Lukas and Donovan sit next to one another as Craig sits across from them. The three of them each have a latte resting on the table. Lukas looks at Donovan and knows that they invited Craig to coffee because they wanted him to hear that he and Donovan are back together. Lukas thought that it was the least that they could do; tell Craig the truth before he heard it from someone else. After everything the three of them had been through together, it was the least they could do. "I'm pretty sure that I know what this is about," Craig admits to the two guys, as he recalls seeing the two of them kissing at the Pampa Grill while he was walking by after his shift at the hospital recently. He suspects that they are back together, which he knew was going to happen one day, but it doesn't change the fact that he is upset by the news. "You do?" Donovan asks him before he looks over at Lukas in surprise. "You two, you're back together, aren't you?" Craig asks them. Lukas nods back to him. "It just happened," he tells Craig. "We finally were able to sit down and hash everything out." "And in the end, we realize that we still care for one another," Donovan continues to tell him. "We know that you had feelings invested so we wanted to be the ones to tell you this news." "Well thanks for that," Craig tries to remain civil even though he feels like a complete jackass. "I guess I should have seen this coming." "We don't mean to hurt you," Lukas replies to him. "No," Craig quickly says back to him. "You two never want anyone else to hurt, but that's exactly what always happens." At the counter, Victoria can't help but overhear the conversation unfolding. She closes her eyes for a moment as she recalls hearing a similar conversation between Craig and Shane the previous night at the hospital. She doesn't like how Craig is treating Donovan; after all her brother deserves to be happy and if Lukas makes him happy, then Craig should accept that. "If you'll excuse me," Craig excuses himself from the booth and quickly walks away. Once he's gone, Victoria grabs her coffee and moves to the booth. "I couldn't help but overhear," Victoria tells her brother as she arrives at the booth. "Congratulations." "Vic, thanks," Donovan stands up and hugs her. "How are you feeling?" "Stop asking me that," she tells him, tired of everyone asking her how she is. "I'm fine. I want to hear about you and Lukas. Tell me everything," she says as she sits down and looks over at Lukas and then Donovan. Twin Peaks General Hospital Eva quickly walks through the hallway of the hospital trying to get to Shane's office. She hasn't been able to stop thinking about her visit with Victoria recently and she is more concerned about daughter than before; she thinks that the near rape on the pier the night of Shane's birthday party is affecting Victoria more than she realized. Victoria was short with her and Donovan and didn't look the best; if something is going on with her daughter, she needs to help her before it gets out of control. "I hope I'm not interrupting," Eva announces to Shane as she opens the door to his office door and she sees the doctor sitting behind his desk. "But, this couldn't wait." "I have some free time," Shane stands up and greets Eva. "What is this about?" "Victoria," Eva replies to him. "Have you seen her lately?" "I have," Shane nods back to her. "In fact, she was late to surgery the other day which I thought was odd because that's not how she operates. She's always on time." Eva arches her eyebrow realizing that the reason Victoria asked her and Donovan to leave was because she had to get ready for surgery. "How did she seem when you spoke to her?" "She seemed fine, but it's almost like she's suppressing her feelings." "That's what I was thinking too. I think this attack on the pier is causing her more stress than she is letting on." Shane nods back to her. "I agree," he admits to her. "I'm worried about her." "Me too," Eva tells him. "The question is, how can we help her? How can we get through to her?" "I wish I knew," he sighs. "But we have to Eva. We have to make sure this doesn't end badly for Victoria." The Pampa Grill Robin slowly makes her way up to a table that Cory is sitting at. She looks at her ex-husband for a moment and is suddenly reminded of all the years they spent together; they were some of the happiest of her life. "Thanks for meeting me for breakfast," she says as she sits across from him. "I hope Natasha wasn't too upset that I stole you." Cory chuckles back to her as he sets his coffee down. "Nah, she was fine. She was meeting with Robbie this morning. Some kind of family emergency." "Isn't there always?" Robin asks him with a giggle. "It's good to see you, we should do this more often." "I agree," Cory nods back to her. "When I got your text though, it seemed like you wanted to tell me something." "I do," Robin admits to him. "I don't know how big of a deal it is, but I got a call from Melissa. I heard from my mother." Cory feels the blood drain from his face as he hadn't heard the name Melissa Young in a very long time. He believed he would never hear from her again after everything she did to keep him and Robin apart, but now Robin is saying she has made contact. "She's in Twin Peaks?" he asks her. "I can't believe this. What does she want? We aren't even together anymore!" "I know, I know," Robin tries to calm him down. "Don't worry, she's not in town. She called me." "To say what, exactly? Don't tell me she's finally apologizing for that crazy scheme involving Caroline Fitzpatrick and Rebecca " "My mother apologize?" Robin asks him back with a chuckle. "No, of course not. Like I said, I don't think it's a big deal, I just wanted you to know that she made contact." "I appreciate that," Cory replies to her. "But, you haven't told me what she wanted." "She called to tell me that my half-brother Nicholas has joined the priesthood." "Nicholas did?" Cory asks him surprise. "That seems like it came from left field. Wasn't he dating that architect guy?" "Tyrone, yes," Robin nods back to him. "I have no idea how my gay brother went from dating and living with a man to joining the priesthood." "What did Nicholas say?" Robin shrugs back to him. "I left him a voicemail but I never heard back from him." "Well, thanks for telling me about Melissa. I hope she's not trying to cause any more problems." "I don't get the feeling that she is," Robin tells him. "But, I did think you had the right to know." "Thanks," he smiles back to her. "We can be prepared for the worst together," he tells her as she laughs with him. *** At another table, Andy is sitting with a coffee looking at his phone. He is waiting for his guest to arrive, which when he received the request to meet for breakfast, he was rather surprised by the invite. He slowly looks up and sees Father Murphy walking up to the table. "Good morning Father," Andy stands up to greet the priest to his table. He has never seen Father Murphy outside of St. Joseph's, so the scene is odd for him. The fact that the Father asked him for breakfast also has Andy's curiosity peaked. "Good morning Andy," Father Murphy shakes Andy's hand before they sit across from one another. "Thank you for agreeing to this meeting." "Of course," Andy replies to him. "I was must admit, I was surprised to hear from you." "I can imagine," Father Murphy says back to him. "I will cut to the chase, Andy. I have many duties waiting for me at the church." Andy listens intently, wondering what Father Murphy is going to tell him. "I am getting older Andy," he tells him. "I'm looking to retire in the very near future." "Wow," Andy replies to him. "I don't know what we will do without you. You've handled so many special events over the years." "That's kind of you to say," he smiles back to him. "But it's my time. But, the fact is, the church is in serious trouble. We aren't making the kind of money we used too. People tend to show up at church for those special occasions, like weddings, funerals, but the Sunday morning congregation is at an all-time low. I would imagine once I move on, and I don't use some of my own funds for daily maintenance, the church wil fall into despair." "I'm not sure how I can assist," Andy tells him, as he listens to the story. "I was hoping you could write a series of articles in the paper," Father Murphy reveals to him. "If the citizens of Twin Peaks could learn about the financial crisis the church is in, maybe they would be willing to open their pocket books and donate to keep the church going. What do you say? Will you write some articles?" "I'd be more than happy to," Andy smiles back to him. "I think that's a great idea. Thank you for trusting me with this information; I will do whatever I can to help you and the church out." Father Murphy clasps his hands together. "Wonderful," he says back to Andy. Roboto "Thanks for coming with me today," Abby tells Paige as they wait in Tyler's office in the Roboto tower. "I was nervous and Cheresa had a shift at the hospital." "Don't worry about it," Paige replies to her. "I'm glad that Cheresa introduced us! I'm happy to be able to see if they select you, I know you want to be a model." "I really do," Abby can barely contain her excitement. "I just hope they liked my submission." Before Paige can reply, Tyler opens the door to his office and moves inside. He looks at Abby and then Paige and is thrilled that the casting call for the Gen Next House got so much traction. "Hi ladies," he says to them. "You must be Abby?" "Yes, thank you, Mr. Robertson," Abby stands to shake his hand. "I must admit, your portfolio was one of the best we received," Tyler tells her, knowing that he looked at hundreds of applications already and Abby's was, by far, the best presented out of them all. "Really?" "Really," he reassures her. "I'd like to make you an offer to be in the Gen Next House this summer. The contract would have to be drawn up, but if you're interested " "I am!" Abby squeals in delight. "I can't believe this is happening! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Tyler turns his attention to Paige. "I didn't see your application," he tells his niece with a sly grin on his face. "I didn't apply," Paige replies to him. "Why not? I think you'd be a great addition. Are you interested?" Paige looks at him in surprise as Abby grabs her arm. "You have to say yes!" Abby tells her. "We could do this together!" Paige finds herself nodding back to them. "Okay, I'm interested!" "Great," Tyler smiles back to them. "Like I said, I'll draw up the contracts. If you'll excuse me, I'll find our Human Resources rep and she can discuss it greater detail." "Thank you again so much," Abby can't stop smiling. Tyler leaves the office and begins to walk towards Bob's office, knowing that the HR rep is in a meeting with him and Kim. Inside Bob's office, he hangs up the phone with the HR rep. "That went well, don't you think?" "Yea, it's a shame she couldn't be here in person though," Kim replies to him. "The casting call will require that all the models meet with human resources." "I agree, but that can be arranged once all the models are hired," he stands up and moves over to her. "I'm actually curious about how your meeting with Greg Lawson went." "It went very well," Kim replies to him. "I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get all the information I need about Felicia from him." "Excellent," Bob says as Tyler arrives at the door and listens to what they are talking about. "That just leaves one final thing," Kim turns to her fiancé. "The device that we used, we have to get rid of it. No one can ever find it." "You're right," Bob agrees with her. "Don't worry about it. I'll take care of it." Outside the office, Tyler arches his eyebrow as he walks away from the door. "Device? What device?" he asks himself, wondering what they were talking about. City Hall Daisy sits at her desk looking over some files that are in front of her. She looks up for a moment to grab her coffee and sees a picture of her and Vinny on her wedding day. She picks up the frame for a moment and looks closer at the picture. So much has happened since that day, she realizes as she sets the frame back down on her desk. She shuts her eyes for a moment and she is taken back to the night she and Tyler made love. She can feel his hands on her body; his lips kissing her. She jolts her eyes open when she hears the door open to her office. She looks and sees Vinny walking in, holding some campaign signs. "Hey, I'm glad you're here," Vinny tells her, oblivious to what Daisy was just thinking about. "We have a couple of options for your signs, I'd like to get your input." Daisy stands up and moves closer to him as she looks at the signs. "I like the Blue and Red, but do you think I should do something a little bolder?" "It's your campaign, you're the boss," he reminds her. "Personally, I like the yellow because it is something different." "Yea, I see your point," she nods back to him. "Let's go with the yellow." "Great," he says back to her. "Thank you for doing this so quickly," she looks into his eyes. "I feel like we are way ahead of the game this go around. I owe a lot of that to you." "I'm just trying to do what I can," he replies to her. "I know how much this means to you." "I know you do," she continues to look into his eyes. "I guess I had forgotten what a great team we make." "That's something I never forget," he replies to her. They look at one another for a moment longer before he leans in and is about to kiss her. She shuts her eyes, but as soon as she does, Tyler's face is present. She opens her eyes and moves away from him. "So, what's next on the agenda?" she asks him as he closes his eyes in frustration, knowing that they were so close to a breakthrough. He wonders if they will ever get back to having a real marriage again. The Legal Offices; Natasha's Office Natasha paces back and forth in her office as Robbie sits in the chair in front of her desk. They met this morning to discuss the bombshell that Bob laid on them the previous night: their father is once again engaged to Kim. Natasha hates that she is not happy about this because Kim has always been one of her best friends, but the fact is Bob and Kim have done nothing but hurt one another over the years. The last thing she wants is for Bob to get hurt again by this woman, and that's exactly what she thinks will happen. "Do you want to sit down and try to talk about this?" Robbie asks his sister, who is growing anxious by her pacing. "No," Natasha tells him. "I barely slept last night after Dad laid the news of his engagement on us. I can't believe this! What are we going to do?" Robbie shrugs back to her. "I know you're upset, I am too, but realistically, what can we do?" "I don't know," Natasha admits to him. "But, we have to do something. We can't let this wedding happen. You know how much Bob and Kim have done to one another over the years." "I know," Robbie agrees with her. "I was involved in some of that hurt and despair. I just don't know what you want to do, Nat." "Neither do I," she tells him. "But we have to do something." "Are you suggesting we stop the wedding?" he asks his sister as they lock eyes. "That's exactly what I'm suggesting," Natasha replies to him with intent. Next on One Day at a Time -
