on One Day at a Time The Calimo Mansion "I still can't believe that Jacob is marrying that wench," Natasha tells Cory as she pours herself a cup of coffee and then turns to face her husband. Natasha and Cory are both still shocked that Jacob's fiancé is Natasha's arch rival, Cassie Nova. In Natasha's mind, this is another one of Cassie's sick games that she is trying to hurt Natasha. After everything Cassie has done to her in the past, she is now going after Jacob and the idea of that makes Natasha's blood boil. "I know," Cory nods back to her. He can tell that his wife is upset by the news but he wants to try to defuse the situation. "I tried to talk to Cassie on New Year's Eve and she claims that she does love Jacob." "Ha!" Natasha breaks into sarcastic laughter. "That woman doesn't know how to love anyone other than herself. No, this is all about me. She's using my son to get to me. Just like she did with Shane and Robbie the last time she was in town." Cory comes up to Natasha and puts his hands on her shoulders. "I know this is upsetting to you," he tells her as he looks into her eyes. "But, you getting all worked up like this, you're letting her win." "I can't stay calm about this Cory!" Natasha replies to him quickly. "My son is going to marry that woman! I can't allow that." "Nat," Cory tries to reason with her. "Why don't I try to talk to Jacob? I can try to see where his head is exactly. You have enough on your plate with everything going on with Bob right now. He is still fighting for his life." "I know," Natasha waves her hand in the air. "Why does it seem like my life is a complete mess right now?" "You still have me," Cory pulls her into a hug. "I'm always here for you Nat. I love you." "I love you too," Natasha lets a tear fall down her eye. "I would appreciate you talking to Jacob. I'll talk to Shane about Jacob and then head to the hospital because you're right, I do have to focus on Bob right now." "Okay, I'll keep you posted on my talk with Jacob. I'll meet you at the hospital in a while?" "Sure," Natasha wipes her damp eyes. "Thanks again Cory." "Don't mention it babe." Twin Peaks General Hospital Shane slowly walks up to Victoria's office in the hospital and takes a deep breath as he prepares to knock on the door. He recalls the last time he saw her, she was livid with him for questioning her for the misdiagnosis on Craig's HIV. Still, he has to get to the bottom of what happened because Craig almost died as a result of the drugs that Victoria was giving him. He also recalls how he overheard Donovan saying that Victoria used to suffer from multiple personalities; of course when he suggested this to Eva, she told him that it wasn't possible. Shane is left wondering if it could be true, however, as it would make sense as to Victoria's odd behavior. He hears a faint "come in" after he knocks on the door. He opens the door and sees Victoria sitting behind her desk. "Hey," he says coming into her office. Brandy looks up and immediately rolls her eyes. "Shane, if this is going to be another conversation about me and how I'm not doing my job, I'm afraid I don't have time. I have a million things to do today." "I'm not trying to be confrontational," Shane replies to her quickly. "I'm just trying to figure out how this happened. Craig, one of our colleagues almost died because of the drugs he had been given to fight an illness he doesn't have. You have to understand how serious this is." "I understand," Brandy nods back to him. "But I need you to understand that I was just doing my job. You accusing me of anything else is outrageous!" "We are going to go round in circles without someone admitting ownership of this," Shane tells her. "Are you healthy, Victoria?" "What the hell is that supposed to mean?" "You've suffered from multiple personalities before. Is that happening again?" Brandy fumes at the suggestion. She realizes, though, that she has to play it safe in order to keep up the ruse. "I assure you, Shane, I am fine. The test results that I got for Craig showed he was HIV positive. Maybe your next step should be at the lab to ask how any mishap could have happened. Now, if you'll excuse me, I really do have a busy day ahead of myself." Shane sighs as Victoria storms out of her office. He runs his hand through his hair wondering how he can find out, for sure, if Victoria is really telling the truth. "I will find out," he whispers to himself. "I have too." *** Craig lays in his hospital bed and looks around the room as he thinks about the recent events, or at least what he can remember. He is finally awake after collapsing due to the drugs that were in his system; he wishes he understood what was happening, but that will take time once he is finally able to leave the hospital. He looks over at the doorway when he sees Lukas appear. "Hey, I heard that you were awake," Lukas smiles back to his friend, happy to see Chris with his eyes open. "You won't get rid of me that easily," Craig uneasily smiles back to him. "Are you up for a visitor?" "Yea, I'd like that." Lukas moves up to his bedside and sits next to him. "You have no idea how worried I've been, we've all been. You gave us a scare." "Yea, I don't know what happened," Craig admits to him. "I'm glad I'm awake though." "I am too," Lukas nods back to him. "And so is Donovan. We haven't really left the hospital." "I'm glad that I have such good friends," he says as they lock eyes. "I mean that Lukas, after everything that has happened, I'm glad we are close." Lukas grabs his hand and smiles back to him. "Me too, Craig. Me too." Dominick's Townhouse "Are you sure that there could be no truth to Shane's claims about Victoria?" Dominick asks his wife as he pours a cup of coffee for himself. He recalls how Shane arrived on their doorstep on Christmas morning to plead with Eva to think about the fact that Victoria's multiple personalities could be back. Dominick understands why Eva is nervous to think that this could be true, but he also can't help but think about Felicia telling him that Barbara was in danger at Raven's Meadow and now she is dead. "I don't know what to think," Eva admits to him as she looks over at him. "I can admit that Victoria hasn't been herself lately but to think that her alter egos is back; that's a hard pill to swallow." "I know," Dominick nods back to her. "But Barbara Mills is dead; Felicia kept telling us that she was in danger." "What did you just say?" Felicia asks as she walks into the living room. "Barbara is ... dead?" "What are you doing here?" Eva asks Felicia, not realizing that she wasn't alone with her husband. "Nevermind that! Answer me! Barbara is dead?" Felicia turns to Dominick. "How is any of this possible?" "We don't know all the details," Dominick calmly tells her. "But yes, Greg Lawson confirmed it to me -- Barbara died at Raven's Meadow." Felicia feels her eyes swell with water. "She was in danger, I kept telling you all but no one listend to me!" Felicia cries. "This is Victoria's fault! She wanted Barbara dead! Your daugher killed my friend," Felicia looks at Eva, who gulps back to her. St. Joseph's Church "Has there been any update on Craig?" Nicholas asks Andy as they walk down the center aisle of the church. Andy is visiting the man he is attracted too to give him an update on the latest dramas from the hospital. "When I left it sounded like he was going to wake up," Andy replies to him. "I think Lukas was going to try to visit him." "Well, that is a relief. I know we have all been so worried about him." "It seems like our prayers have finally been answered with Craig," Andy smiles back to him. "I can't thank you enough for everything you've done to help." Nicholas uneasily shrugs back to him. "I was just doing what anyone would do in my position." "It hasn't gone unnoticed, that's all I'm saying." "How is Bob? Is there any word on your sister's husband?" "I'm afraid that isn't a good news story," Andy replies to him. "It seems like he is still in a dire situation." "I will continue to pray for him," Nicholas tells him. "That's all we can do." "Thank you Nicholas," Andy replies to him as they lock eyes. "I don't know what I would do without your support." "You'd be fine," Nicholas looks back at him, feeling his attraction to Andy building. "You're stronger than you think, Andy." Andy pulls him into a hug and finds himself smelling Nicholas. "You always know the right thing to say to me." They exit their embrace and Nicholas looks back at him with blushed cheeks. "It seems we are good for each other." "Yes, it certainly does," Andy winks back to him, unable to hide his attraction to the priest in front of him. They move closer together but Nicholas suddenly moves back. "We can't do that again," he whispers to Andy as they look at one another. "I am a priest. I am with the church." "I know," Andy shakes his head in disappointment. "I'm trying my best." "We have to try harder," Nicholas informs him. "We can't kiss anymore, Andy. I mean it." The Sugarbowl "I must admit it is nice to see you out of the house," Shelley tells Dawn as they sit across from one another in the back booth of the coffeehouse. "After everything you went through at the end of last year, I could understand if you'd want to hide out for a while." "Yea, Dawn, how are you holding up with everything?" Cheresa asks her friend before she takes a sip of her hot chocolate. Dawn looks back at them with sadness in her eyes. If she's honest with them, it was a struggle for her to want to get out of the house today. But, staying at home, the house she lived in with Helen, is tough enough for her as everywhere she looks she has another reminder of her mother. And, because Barbara lived there with them for years, she is also reminded of the grandmother she just lost as well. "You know," Dawn begins to tell them. "It's not even a year since I lost the baby. And in that time, I've lost both my mother and my grandmother. I'm not sure what I've done to deserve all this heartache but I'm ready for it to be over now." Cheresa and Shelley look at one another quickly before Shelley reaches over and grabs Dawn's hand. "I can understand how you feel," she tells her friend. "Just know that everyone's life has a plan. I know it might be not able to see what that plan is right now because you're grieving, but one day, hopefully, you can look back and say that you made it through this rough time even stronger than before." "Shelley is right," Cheresa tells her. "I know it is easier said than done, but try to remember the good times you did have with your Mom and Grandma. That is what really matters." Dawn lets a tear fall down her cheek. "I know, I'm trying," she replies to her friends. "I'm just not sure how much more pain I can take. I need this to end. I really just need some normalcy back in my life, whatever that maybe." The Tower's; Floor Eight; Victoria's Condo Brandy slams the door closed to Victoria's condo and rushes into the kitchen where she immediately pours herself a glass of red wine. She takes a gulp before she removes the elastic from her hair that is tied into a bun. Her long hair falls down her back as before Brandy runs her hand through her hair quickly. "Damn it Shane," she whispers to herself. "You are getting too damn close to the truth. I have to think of a way to stop you somehow. But how?" She takes another sip of her red wine as she suddenly realizes that more questions will be asked once the news of Barbara's death gets out. "Shane will immediately realize that I was working there when Barbara died. Damn it, this is going to be more difficult than I thought." She moves into the living room and sees the walkie-talkie that she uses to communicate with Helen, who is still buried alive in the coffin. "I can deal with Shane later," she whispers to herself. "Right now, I should check on my friend." She picks up the walkie-talkie and turns it on. "Hello Helen," she says with a sly grin on her face. "How are you today?" Inside the coffin, Helen's eyes move quickly when she hears Brandy's voice. "Brandy! Thank God," Helen replies to her quickly. "I haven't heard from you in awhile. I was beginning to think you had forgotten about me!" Brandy chuckles back to her. "Sorry it's been so long," she takes a sip of her wine. "I'm a busy girl out here, you know. A lot of balls to juggle." "Look," Helen calmly says to her. She realizes that when she is hysterical with Brandy she doesn't make any inroads, so today, she is trying to stay calm. "You've made your point and I agree with you; I was a bad mother to Dawn. I never should have listened to Barbara and send her to the bible camp. I am to blame for Dawn's attack," Helen says as a tear runs down her cheek. "But Brandy, I've learned my lesson. Please, I'm begging you, you have to let me out of here. I don't know how much longer I can stay in here." Brandy rolls her eyes. "For once, it's nice that you're not a crying mess," she tells her. "But, you're not going anywhere. In case you have forgotten, I am in control here. I will tell you when you've suffered enough." "Please," Helen whispers as another tear falls down her cheek. "Please let me out of here! I'm begging you." "Stop being so pathetic," Brandy growls at her. "Now, I have to go; like I said, I'm a busy girl. We'll be in touch soon!" "No, please," Helen tells her, her calmness quickly turns into a panic. "Don't go! Brandy! Please! Please! Let me out of here!" Twin Peaks General Hospital; The Waiting Room "Hey, any update on Bob?" Cory walks into the waiting room where Jacob is standing and asks his stepson about Bob's condition. Jacob turns to face Cory. "Cory, hey," Jacob shakes his hand. "I just got here, I was about to call Mom to see if she was here." "She's not here, she's still at the mansion," Cory reveals to him. "Look, I'm glad that we have a moment alone. Do you mind if we talk for a moment?" "Uh, sure?" Jacob shrugs his shoulders. "I'm guessing that this is about my engagement to Cassie Nova?" "You'd had to know how your mother was going to react to the news." "I just wish she would understand that I'm happy," Jacob replies to him quickly. "Instead of hearing me out, or hearing Cassie out, she just jumps to the conclusion that Cassie is lying and up to no good. That really sucks, you know?" "I know that you've heard the stories about Cassie from you Mom," Cory tells him. "But they are more than just that stories; actually living through it was a lot more painful for your Mom. And your Dad, for that matter." "It was also a long time," Jacob informs him. "Are you the same person that you were 20 years ago?" "Of course not." "Exactly, Cassie has changed," Jacob tells him. "She honestly had no idea who I was when we met in New York. And we fell in love. I wish my Mom and Dad would trust me. I know what I'm doing. I just happened to fall in love." Cory nods back to him. "Look, for what it's worth, I believe you. I don't trust Cassie, but I do believe you Jacob. If what you're telling me is true " "It is," Jacob replies to him. "Cassie and I love each other. We want to be married." "Then, I will try to talk your Mom into coming around." "Really? You'd do that for me?" "This family needs peace right now," Cory replies to him. "With everything going on with Bob, we don't need any other drama." "I'd appreciate that, Cory." The Pampa Grill "I wish you had told me you were coming home," Max looks over his table at his mother before he picks up his beer. "It's so great to see you." "It's nice to see you too baby," Cassie smiles back to her son. "I can't believe how much you've grown since I was away." Max chuckles back to her. "I'm not still growing Mom. That ended a long time ago." "Well, you know what I mean," she winks back to him. "It's just nice to be back with you. You have no idea how much I missed you while I was away." "I know, I missed you too," he says before his eyes catch her large diamond ring on her left hand. "I can't believe that you're engaged. To Jacob Glubbs, no less." "I know, strange things can happen when it comes to matters of the heart," Cassie tells him before she takes a sip of her red wine. "I hope you can be happy for me?" "I mean, yea, I guess I can be happy for you," Max uneasily looks back at her. "That doesn't sound convincing." Max chuckles back to her. "Okay, I'll be honest with you," he tells her. "It's odd that Jacob is, like, my age. When I think of you getting married again, I just imagined that it would be with someone closer to your own age." "Age is just a number," Cassie tells her son. "I appreciate you being honest with me, Max. But Jacob makes me very happy. It's not something I set out to do, fall in love with a younger man, but it has happened. I hope you can just be happy for me." "Of course," Max tells her. "He better not hurt you, that's all." "I think hurting me is the very last thing Jacob will do," Cassie purses her lips together. The Calimo Mansion "I got here as soon as I could," Shane announces as he walks into the living room of the Calimo mansion. "Is everything okay? Your text made it seem urgent." "No, nothing is okay right now," Natasha turns to her ex-husband. "Jacob is engaged to Cassie! Our son is going to marry that monster!" "I'm still in shock," Shane admits to her. "I have so much going on at work right now, I haven't even had the time to discuss this with our son." "After everything that happened with you and Robbie the last time Cassie was in town, I'm convinced that she is using Jacob to get back at us, at me, again," Natasha tells him. "And, we can't let that happen Shane." "I would agree with you," Shane says back to her. "But Jacob is a grown man now. I'm not sure what we can do. If we protest this relationship, it might push him closer into Cassie's orbit." "I have thought of that too," Natasha says to him. "But this can't happen, Shane. Jacob cannot marry Cassie Nova. It just cannot happen!" "What do you think we should do?" "Whatever it takes to stop this wedding from happening," Natasha looks back at him with intent. "I don't care what it takes, but I will not let my son marry that woman. I forbid it." Next
