He left for an auction, and when he returned, he learned that Cory and Penny found a cell phone at the site of the plane crash, which confirmed that someone purposely tried to kill Cory, which made Gordy feel bad for him. He left for another auction, and this time, when he returned, he saw Penny and Cory in a close moment. He demanded the truth from Penny as to what was happening between her and Cory. Penny finally admitted that while Gordy was away, she and Cory shared a kiss. Furious, Gordy punched Cory! Penny lashed out at him for his violence and ended their engagement. Gordy vowed to get back at Cory and Penny for their betrayal. Gordy came to Twin Peaks and revealed himself to Penny, who wondered why he came back.
