Penny and Cory continued to grow closer on her farm, which upset Gordy. While Gordy was away at an auction, Penny suggested to Cory that they visit the site of the plane crash, hoping that it would trigger his memory. At the site, Cory's memory didn't return, but they did find a burner cell phone, that confirmed that Antonio wanted the plane to crash. The name Antonio didn't trigger anything for Cory. When Gordy learned that someone wanted Cory dead, he started to come around to being friendly. While Gordy was away next, Penny and Cory shared a steamy kiss, which brought his memories back. Penny was happy, however, when Cory agreed to stay at the farm as he thought his previous life had too much drama. Penny and Cory were about to kiss again when Gordy returned from the auction. He demanded to know what was going on between his fiancé and Cory; Penny finally admitted that she and Cory kissed. Furious, Gordy punched Cory. Penny lashed out at him for bringing violence into her home. She realized that they weren't meant to be, and she ended their engagement. Gordy was livid and vowed revenge before he left. He finally admitted that he shot and killed Antonio, thinking he was Cory (as both men wore the same costumes at the masquerade party)! Penny was horrified and told Gordy she was going to the police, so he tied her to a chair. Cory and Robin arrived and a fight broke out between the men. The gun went off, which killed Gordy, but in the fight, the chair Penny was tied too, fell over and she ended up in a coma. On New Year's Eve, however, Penny mumbled Daisy's name, as she knew that Daisy was wrongly convicted of killing Antonio.
